Who reads it? It's pretty reddity at times but it is entertaining enough and regularly updated.

"humanity meets aliens, they're all weaklings and don't measure up in any way except for the tech (which has long stagnated)"

Yes, this is a spinoff of the dishwashers thread.

Are there tentacles? :flipoff2:

Thanks, right up my alley! I read another book recently with a similar premise. :smokin:

yeah I've been halfass trying to find an .epub editor so I can strip off the last thousand pages of advertising
and break it into 2k-ish page segments because the whole thing takes like 5 minutes to open on my portable tracking device

Use calibre to convert to a text file, edit out what you don't want, convert back to epub? I have never done this but I have used calibre extensively.

Actually looks like you may be able to edit epubs directly.

I might check this out, I have been on an audiobook kick recently though and going back to the nook might suck.

Just from the blurb reminded me of a part in "Old Man's War" when the main character gets a bit ****ed in the head after invading a planet of aliens that are a couple of inches tall and going all godzilla on them:lmao:

486, you suck! :flipoff2:

Nobody mentioned that this is a huge community project, with multiple authors contributing entire novels worth in the same universe/timeline, and characters wandering from author to author!

Page 200-something says "you should really go read this little backstory now..."

No epub that I can find...

Right after college, my ****head roommate left the first Battlefield Earth book on my bed, fully aware that I'm a neurotic completist, and would finish that godforsaken dekology. It's only 1.2M words, so you've handily dethroned Bill.

That was "Mission Earth" I finally bought the last book in paperback to finish the series, I tried to go back and read it, I think I got past the first chapter and wondered why I thought it was good.
"Battlefield was actually a decent book. John Travolta tried to make it into movie

I can't remember if you were in the Wheel Of Time thread. Your mention of word count intrigued me because I just powered through that series on audiobook. Apparently it is 4.4M words:eek:

You bastards got me sucked into this "book" or whatever the hell it is. I've copied and pasted about 4k pages into a pdf. If I get that far I'll have to snatch the rest of it eventually.

I'm just starting out, less than 200 pages in so far but it is very interesting. I'm just not sure I will have the fortitude to read the whole thing. Is it even completed yet?

Is it even completed yet?
it's kinda complicated, like all internet stories in a way

there's a point in every story where everything pretty well ties up and it could be wrapped up neatly
this is one of them that has continued on past that point several times but it is still entertaining enough to read

so you know, if you're someone that is bothered by it not really having an ending then best not to start in on any online fiction, as probably 90% of everything you start in on won't ever be "complete"

Not really. I've tried to start that series three different times, and end up bored as hell every time.
I totally get that.
Still working on the Salvage side-story...
Is that part of this deathworlders thing or something else? Link? nevermind link was above:homer:

I am wrapping up a sci-fi classic and will be looking for something new soon. I thought it was pretty good. Kind of hard to explain but the amazon synopsis does alright:

just put a fire upon the deep on hold, sounds interesting for sure  never mind my other library had a copy, gonna start this series today on the way home from work yay

Nope, and from the sounds of it I shouldn't even take a glimpse at it. Got enough stupid **** to do already!
oh come on ***got, you know you wanna waste your screen time on something that at least won't make you as angry as watching the world burn
