What's new

What did you do to your GM today?

Only have pics the day I drug it home. Process isn’t terrible just each part is kinda time consuming

Grendel needed so spider gears so squid tore down her d60 and pulled them, installed the spartan, and now putting it all back together.

She also got a lesson on the 4500/203/205 gear ratios. Turn the yoke, turn the input, feel the difference, shifty, now try it again, shifty, try it again.

This finally it's atleast thais much further along now. Have to pull both rear bolts on Springs. And get a wrench that will fin nut side on front of spring in the pocket.

89 K5 blazer 5.7 worker changed the oil last and cross threaded the plug.

I'm not sure what the deal is with this but it is a metric plug and everything calls for a standard plug ½-20.
I searched for gm metric oil plug and this popped up.

So I started punching gm part numbers into auto zones site until this popped up.

So I ordered a plug for a Malibu :homer:.

Needa M12-1.75

Magnetic Oil Drain Plug

Standard size

000257248 653076

Needa M12-1.75

GM Oil Drain Plug

I was able to chase the threads and use the standard size plug.

This Napa brand A-arm didn't want to fit.

I should probably get it aligned, it drives stright and smooth but has too much positive camber by the looks of it.

One side on after waiting for snow ice bs to leave are as in falling. Nothing is tight yet. However axle is still sitting on the ground..

Work stuff. Got the 04 2500 mostly put back together. Need to put on the fender flare. Bend up the drive side bumper a little. Truck tool a good hit 4 or 5 years ago and just been sitting in our yard. It sheared the tie rod end bolt right off and just about sheared the lower ball joint. Bent it good. Gonna get new upper and lower bjs in it.

It fired right up though. Has P0300 and P0446 codes. Also has a bad steering box leak where the splined shaft bolts to steering shaft and a nasty ps pump whine. This will all be the new punch list after I get it driving straight.

Sheet metal lined up ok, good enough for this truck. Pounded out the bumper dent in the corner and then used a hammer and dolly to get the rest out. It's still wrinkly and being chrome shows everything. Most of the sheet metal we scrounged at pick in pull. Couple plastic pieces and the grill were ordered.

At some point tweakers got into our yard and put stolen plates on this truck and took our good plates.

It’s not my truck but I was fixing for somebody. It had codes for a shorted DEF heater and was about to go into reduced power mode.
The wire harness burnt a pin in a connector, so it needed a harness and a complete DEF tank because nothing is serviceable on it.
He had to spend a lot of money on a truck with 20k miles and just out of warranty.

I tell ya. 80-90% of my repairs to the dmax’s I have in my fleet are def/emission related. Get rid of that shit and you would have one hell of a reliable package. Thanks some politician’s cousins uncle that invented that crap to save the spotted whomp rat in southern BFE. :flipoff:

Yep, that shit is nothing but problems. In 2026 or 27 they are stepping up diesel emission requirements even more. There are gas engine vehicles the have a GPF… that’s gasoline particulate filter, it’s a requirement in some other Countries.
