OE Electric Parking Brake bible: We're looking at different rotors, add on parking brakes and also integrated electric parking brakes.

Looking at YJLOPES pic, it looks like you could mill down the non piston side to make the caliper narrower. Yes?
I bet you could do that. It would take longer to set up on the mill than the actual cut. The top 8-10mm of the bolt hole hole is unthreaded, so you wouldn't be losing any threads to hold it together.
 
Those seem to have a more compact motor. Got any specs on the hydraulic portion?
Only thing I know, so far, is a GVW of an F150 is a lot bigger than my CJ8. The rotor is also about the same size.

Looks like they’re a single 54mm piston so they’re probably a pretty solid choice to use in place of the common D54 GM stuff. Roughly 2.125” for those that don’t metric. Found this from Ford.

I think I may have to do something like that on my GPW - the disparity on bore size between front and back would pose a problem with a single 3.375" front caliper (17.89 in²) vs 2.125" rear F-150 (7.09 in²) compared to my current 2.9375" 3/4 ton Chevy rears (13.55 in²). My brakes are perfect now so the only need is for a

This science project is more for my Early Bronco since the emergency brake on that has always been a packaging nightmare.



Toyota Tacoma rotors would have allowed this to work inside of a 15" wheel. I updated the spreadsheet.

It is interesting that the parking brake force is different depending on how the truck is optioned though.

It's more about GVW.
 
BTW, the Caddy rotors are 32.00 each at Rock Auto (more with discount) and I got the F150 hydraulic calipers with e-park brake for 42.00 each off Ebay.

Here's the Caddy 8 lug rotor with a 2021 F150 two in one caliper. Both are a lot heavier GVW than my Jeep.

It's fucking beautiful. Rear disk brakes, with EE-Brake, for under 300.00, plus abutment. It looks like a standard weld on abutment from Gubni would work.

Even got really good pads.

This should work with the Dodge 1500 rotor, too. This Caddy rotor looks like it would slip fit. Pretty sure the Dodge would too.

I am ordering a set of brackets to modify. I plan to put these 8 lug Caddy rotors and F150 calipers on my C&C 14b, so I ordered a few sets to play with.

Also going to put the Dodge rear rotors and these calipers on on a Dana 60-2.

Definitely follow up with the 14b install. That’s my setup that I’m looking to improve.

Understood. Thing is, I have a C&C axle. It already has El Dorado calipers and brackets.

I'll be bringing it in in a bit, it's for my CJ7.

May just do something like this, done for another C&C 14b, that got F250 front brakes.

This was engineered by someone else, that we just copied.

So, I have to drill the stud holes on the Caddy rotor to slip fit onto my 14B. It's hub centric, nice fit.

Funny, I think a straight bracket with the same tube to caliper spacing will work for the Ford F150 calipers. The caliper abutment uses two M18 bolts that is 5.75" on center to center. The diameter of the rotors are about the same, a 2000's rear Caddy rotor and a 80's front 3/4T. So spacing off the axle should be the same.

The front of my CJ is a Chevy60 getting 2009 Dodge 3/4t stuff, so a larger rotor and dual piston caliper with a lot of surface area should match these well.

I have have El Dorado calipers as well and I’m not much of a fan. They are a simple kit but not great stopping with 42’s.

The Caddy rotor has a step down ridge inside the hat.

Looks like I'll have to turn my hubs about an 1/8" smaller to slip fit over the face. If I mount them behind the hub, they're perfect, but I want slip fit.

The e-parking brake is two terminals, reverse polarity to lock down or open up the parking brakes. So looks like a dual pole, dual throw, relayed switch will work well for this. It's a worm drive, so no voltage required to hold, once open or closed.

Nice progress. I look forward to seeing it all mounted and test driven.

If a guy was realy cheap, could they put a old school amp draw guage in the power supply side then learn where the sweet spot is for on and release.

Or you could just listen to them, and use a dual pole, dual throw switch. I may just do this.

They're very audible. I used a power probe to move them in and out.

DPDTS will work perfect on my S10 truggy build, I will be going that route when it comes time and for sons 4runner. Asking on the AMP meter for another reason. Thanks

A timer would work too. 2-3 seconds is all it would take.
 
Why not use the power window switch that was mentioned earlier. Seems ideal.
 
hell yeah, idk how i missed this thread this whole time, but i was wondering if there was an oem electric e brake caliper out there that was pretty universal

didnt read all the pages but is there something that fits good on a c10 front disk setup?
 
It might not be very helpful but the '23+ F250 has a electric drum parking brake.

So the Caddy rotors need to have the 14mm lug holes opened to 19/32". My son cheated and used a 5/8" bit and did all 16 of them in like 3 mins. They slip fit well, with .0045" taken off the OD of the 14B hub.

They seem to be hub centric and I don't mind splitting the 1/32" amongst all 8 holes. Worst case, I'll order new rotors and a 19/32" bit.

Building the brackets when I get home, none of the ones I had worked, but seems trivial to come off the original drum brake mounting flange.

We played around with the calipers, can get them, with pads in, to take a 1.1" rotor.

I am ok with the Caddy rotors.
