So, with all the truck nonsense, my business sold off all our 2018+ Crew Cab, Dually diesels, often times for 20K over what we paid, with 30k to 100K miles on them. Sold two four year old w900's with 450K miles for MSRP of new trucks.

Literally, made a shit ton.

So, this is going to be a "gap" truck. Bought it cheap, with 111K miles on it.

We need a winch in the bed and will do a gin pole set up off the back.

First use? Will be to move around the "Boomerang Blazer"

The last few years of it's life was to haul around the crawler in the pics, no idea who's that is.

You see it here, as we got it, with some bubba lights and such wired in. Janky tow hitch, etc.

So we added a Chinesium 13.5K winch, fixed a lot of damage to the bed and added a 1K crane to the side. Doing a gin pole set up too, with some 2x2 .25" wall tube I had rusting around. Built a real tow hitch, too.

Total investment for this local parts hauler will be under 12K, not counting labor. It also needs to save our backs.
I have a little 2K lb superwinch for the little crane that's been in my attic for 10+ years.

We'll also turn up the fuel on the Isuzu 4 cylinder to get some more power... the engine brake is a nice touch though. It's rated for 10K on the bed and 10K behind it. Should be a decent little runner while we wait for prices to come down.

I took the money from my trucks and bought another property to rent out.

Fits pretty nice on there. That with a small camper behind it would be pretty nice setup compared to a crawler hauler but still small enough to get around and store.

So, moving onto the gin pole set up.
Anyone see a problem using four of the aluminum stake pockets to mount the gin pole and chains into? Pole would handle no more than 2K lbs at 13' or so.

I am going to make a removable gin pole setup for the stake pockets on my dodge. I already have a winch truck but 2 winch trucks are better than one. I am going to make it where it hooks into several of the pockets per side to spread the load. I wouldn’t want to just have it in one pocket per side.

Yeah, this would be two per side.

Gin pole set up.

What's the biggest bolt hole I can stick in 2"x2" .25" square tube?

A palfinger or other knuckle boom hoist would be nice, almost bought a 362 pete 3 axle tractor with one directly behind cab.

I've had them. For the amount I would use this, too expensive and too complex.

5/8" is prolly bigger than .250 wall will support, in terms of tear-out

so go 3/4" because reasons
Came up with something else, as I wanted a bigger bolt. Created a hinge.

Oughta work.
Usually what I see is double shear with a real loose fit in the single piece so there's enough slop that you can fold the poles down flat and parallel without needing to detach anything but the frame at the top from one side

Understood, but I am making this with shit i have on hand, to use around the house. You'd take the 1" AR500 plate out of the stake pockets and fold it up.

I think it's overkill for it's 2Klbs lift.

and of course, I am out of welding gas.

ooh had a thought today
if you bend the lower half of the hinge instead of the upper half it'll still fold flat nice

because once its on there and assembled, why take it back off again, you know?

Because I need to put other shit on it, where the hinge mounts to the rails.
Will probably use this once a year or so. Have a tractor with loader for most things.

If it fits, it ships volume 2... unless you lose brakes in both vehicles.
