So I've been thinking really hard about selling my 01 Ram 1500 RCSB Off-Road package and buying this 85 D250 to pull my 95 YJ around. My YJ is still a 2.5L with a D30/8.8 on 35's right now, might go to 37's eventually. So it is still fairly light. The 1500 will pull it, but it doesn't like it. It has a Magnum 318 and 4.10 gears but it's on 35's which doesn't help. This D250 has a stock 318 w/1 barrel carb and 727 right now, so very weak. But I have a built 400 big block and built 727 that I could put in it fairly easily to get it to pull better. The D250 should have heavier duty suspension and of course it has a D60 FF rear in it. Just wish it had a D60 front instead of the 44. I still might need to regear it, as I'm not sure what is in it right now. But its just gonna be used as a work truck and to pull the YJ occassionally to some local parks and local wheeling spots. I'm not planning on taking off across the country with it. Only real important thing I might miss between the 2 trucks is the ice cold ac in my 01.
What do y'all think?
