So I have a pair of trail-gear 30 spline longfield axles, fj80 variety, that have started clicking during hard turns with the front locked. I see RCV sells rebuild parts and trail-gear doesnt (I called and asked them). Does anyone know if the RCV rebuild parts will work in a trailgear longfield? Ive also found that you can disassemble the birf and file down small ridges that form on the cage around the balls from wear, I intend to try this but im also curious about the RCV rebuild option. Also i dont know if this makes a difference but my longfields were pruchased shortyl after trail-gear bought out longfield and my birfs may have actually been made by RCV?

In a fwiw way....

IF you have o.g. longs, yes.
No shit right....

If you have china feilds I'm hesitant to believe that trademark law allowed t.g. to continue to use rcv pattented specs...
When I called rcv about getting some stars for my o.g. longs right after Bobby died ( R.I.P.) they weren't going to support anything beyond his death warranty wise.
They weren't happy competing with china for those parts either.

I'd say call and ask if yours could be rcv or china, and see if they will tell you about compatibility if yours are not rcv product ...

I guess I should ask RCV just in case but I assume im going to get a response something like "our rebuild kits are intended for rcv products only"

Anyway here are some pics of the cage wear

Yes you will if you ask
"Wiil rcv parts fit china feilds"

If you ask
"I think I have late O.G. ( Bobby) longfeilds"
from the time of acquisition by trailgear..
See where I'm going?!
Good luck.

Mine were ratcheting, I called Bobby, and sent them in for warranty.
He said they were shot and sent me new complete birfs.
Your milage will varry

you can buy replacement CV balls based on size from Kartek. If you get your apart maybe you can match something up.

I would buy new ones from RCV for what its worth though....
