Who’s making good jump boxes?

This one has served me well in the shop for roughly a decade

20240105_075453.jpg

I am on my second of these in the past decade and am happy with them. They last longer if you don’t leave them in a hot/cold car all the time.

I bought this one a little over a year ago and it is pretty much been flawless. Jump starts diesels, gas engines, my lawn mower (:flipoff2:), and everything else I have ever thrown at it. The compressor actually still works on this one as well, most prior jump packs that I would buy would see the compressors fail within a month or two.

The only "issue" this thing has had has been that the internal cooling fan relay I think is stuck on, so the fan is constantly running on a low speed. I can hear it quietly humming away as the pack sits on the charger 24/7 until it is needed. Otherwise, I called it into service to jump start sprinter vans when it was below zero and it was the first pack I ever had that could do it without needing another running vehicle hooked up at the same time.

They even make larger sizes than this one.

JUNK!!!!!

I bought one of those believing the hype and it is completely useless to me and it wasn't cheap. Wouldn't start my 6.0 gasser when the main battery was completely dead. Only good for a partially dead battery, or lawn and garden stuff. It has to be warm as well.

Shouldn't the fan run while charging for cooling/h2 gas leak?

Jump N Carry 660. Only thing better that I've found is a large lead acid battery (like a 4D) on a hand truck with some jumper cables.
came in to say the same thing. dealer use here, starts everything. this is my second one, though Im sure the first would still be working if we hadnt run over it. ignore the dog blanket.....he's part of the crew here. :smokin:

ProjectFarm just did another review of these. He liked GooLoo a lot for the 2nd year.

Noco stuff is great, but $$$!!! I think the jumpbox PF tested was $370!

I bought the vtoman off this because I wanted the inflator too. It started my bus with a cummins the other day. LOL. No issues with recharging so far after 6 months of monthly use for one thing or another.

It will start a totally dead vehicle if you push the button on the connector. I have done it 100s of times.

I just started a ford van I bought that had an auxiliary fuel pump for the generator running nonstop. It was 0.0 volts. Fired up easily.

The noco will not start something without a battery. Worth noting.
They will if you put it in dummy mode, hold down the little red exclamation point button till the white light comes on. Basically bypasses all the "smart" features and if your dumb enough to hook it up backwards or short it out it will light stuff on fire.

Anyone say jnc660 yet, because I'm saying jnc660 :flipoff2:

I never had good luck with the lithium ones jumping batteries. They're no good as power sources either so they're out for me

Mine won't. Not a 6.0 gas anyway. It was maybe a year old, fully charged and yes I'm well aware of the boost button. It would just roll the engine over a rotation or two really slow then the solenoid would just click. A few attempts of that and the xp-10 was dead.
Jumper cables and a deep cycle fired it right up.
If it's cold out, which is when 90% of my dead battery issues come up, I don't even try it. Probably my worst financial decision was to by that thing. Garbage for my uses. Starts lawn mowers in the summer with dead batteries, that's about it.

Send it here. I’ll pay shipping

I've been using the matco versapro 3 for awhile with Goodluck.

We have 3 "Booster Pac Brand" ES5000 at work. They are the best we have found. All of ours are 3-4 years old and still working good.

I've been using this one for a few years (jnc)... actually I am on my 3rd one. They don't last as long as I would like but I have not found one better, and I use it all the time.

Jump N Carry 660.
This. I have two. I like that it's lead acid and you can replace the batteries when they start showing age.

:homer:

Just noticed they have a LiFePO battery available for them now. Twice the price, but I'd be tempted to try it on my next change. I usually go with the cheaper-est ones and they seem to last about as long as the original.

I'm pretty impressed with my GooLoo GT4000s.
I keep it on my boat, because you never know out on the water.....

The Keenpower one with the super cap should last a long time , no battery to go bad.

cost is 3x the Norco i bought

I dont like dicking around with making sure the jump box is charged. I just carry my car charger that has a jump mode and my little generator on truck

Gooloo 4000 here Only not started a big diesel once and it was stone dead. No click. It would make a couple slow rounds and click out. If there was any charge in the battery, then it would have done it. It will start everything else a lot of times and still have juice left.

in a business setting where there's five or ten of them kicking around, the whole thing is only like 20 bucks more than the battery, when I looked briefly a long while ago

I've cut the cables off a couple of those that got ran over and crimped on some battery post terminals for the extra-big shit

My snapon is probably $500 and the battery is $100. The 1700 Jumpncarry is $150-200 and a battery is $60-75. One really good one like the snapon is better than 5 or 10 that might work.

I didn't spend a huge amount of time looking for the battery for cheap, and it was like a decade ago

I dug a few out of the garbage at work and me and some friends divided them up and bought batteries for them.
