Never been to one. Never really needed to although I do have some lower back pain I have powered through for years. Always seemed shady to me.

It's gotten pretty bad in the last two weeks, like a struggle to put on my shoes bad and I am not fat in the least, and I am sure it would pass but I made an appointment with a guy for tomorrow who comes highly recommended from a bunch of guys at my gym.

So who does this voodoo, back cracking shit and has it helped?

Wife swear by it, once a week for probably 5 years, I did 6 months and he never cracked a joint, it was uncomfortable.

It was too abrupt and violent, If I want a car crash, I'll have a car crash.

Fuck him.

If you get someone decent they will look for the source of the discomfort, and they will either explain how they plan on correcting it along with your help or they'll tell you to see a surgeon.

If they want you to come in 5x a week indefinitely without explaining what's wrong and how it's being corrected, you've stumbled on a poor excuse for a chiropractor.

Especially if you consider the comparable govt sanctioned modern medicine approach
If you go to one who isn't "modern medicine"...don't.

Spinal health is a perfectly legitimate field.

Subluxations affecting the flow of life energy to treat cancer/gall stones/bad breath is not. If they believe in subluxations, move on.

My wife goes to a guy who uses xrays and repeatable machines to decompress her damaged discs. It helps a lot.

I have a friend that’s a chiropractor….

He moved to Tennessee almost two years ago
My back hasn’t been good since

You have to find a good one for sure!!!

Theres good ones and bad ones.

Find one that wants to put you on some sorta weekly or monthly plan...You need to go somewhere else

About once every 5-8 years I stack up a bike hard enough that a week later I'm talkin to the chiropractor. One or two visits and I'm good to go. Will be sad when that old fuck retires

Sure, but if you go to your local insurance preferred doctor, all you will get is pills and surgery.

I've had 1 Dr recommended chiro, and that was after a bunch of discussion about it, driven by me

Been going to them for 30 years when I do something stupid. I'm fortunate in that usually one visit takes care of the issue. But there have been times where it takes more than one. They all seem to try to sell then multi week plan, just tell them no.

I'm not a small guy. The average size chiro isn't going to do shit for me. Just not enough mass. The guy I go to these days is violent, its what it takes to get my back where is belongs. I've told my wife to elsewhere, he would break her

Find the doctor who doesn't just make the cracking-popping noises.
I went to one after my neck was royally fucked from my motorcycle crash. I thought he was a sham doctor wannabe but a few weeks in and he got rid of my debilitating migraines and was able to correct a lot of things going wrong in my neck. When I first met him, I was laying down on the store of a bike shop I worked at because I was having some serious pain. He offered me a free consult to figure out what was going on. Before he would even touch me he took x-rays and did evals on what was going on.

I went to him for about 2 or 3 years. The first couple months was like 3 times a week to get my body to hold what he was doing. After that it was touch-ups. I have not been in about 7 years and I am now really feeling the effects. I need to go back.

But, all that to say that a chiro is not a 'pop a pill and you're fixed' type of treatment. It is training your body to do things with your muscles and bones so it does take some time to get things straight. If you go, give it 3 months before you make a judgement because that's about how long it takes before you really notice thing doing what they should.

I go as needed. Which is at least once a month. Him and I met at ff1 academy. He never tried to get me in. I actually went and tried him out after. He does what's needed and nothing more and knows I'll text or call when I need him again.

Before that I went to one where we used to live and he was the same way. Come as needed.

I like the ones that say "the less I see you means I did a good job"

I did numerous times during 2014-2018 for sacrum joint issues(lower back between hips. The guy I used did wonders for it. My lower back was bad enough to keep me in bed.

I haven't been in years but I haven't had lower back issues in the same amount of time.

I have problems with my hips, basically I end up with one leg a few inches longer than the other and want to suck start a shotgun. I made it almost 40 years before I went to one and got cracked and was 100% when I walked out. That being said I googled shit and started doing yoga for hip issues and as long as I do those stretches I stay good. Now if your back problems are related to disks and such I’m not sure what your best course of action is. My wife has a bunch of back problems and is always complaining that I don’t, well I grew up doing retarded shit and started strong, she started lifting in her early 30s and competing in strongman competitions so I think it’s just a matter of what you actually have going on and how you have conditioned your body

Yes, but only for the past 30 +/- years.

I go about once every month or two. Fell on ice a year and a half ago and now I have SI pain that lingers. I also pop ribs out of place with all the side sleeping I do. About half of the time, one leg is longer than the other so the doc fixes that too. See the pop doc for about 10 minutes and pay $45 per visit. Well worth the money.

I am not sure if it's musclar or disks/spine? Never had anyone look at it but it feels bone related. Not muscular.

I also have a hip issue where the ball on the top of my femur decided to grow a spur that has torn the shit outta my labrum muscle. Only way to fix it is to replace the hip. I am too young to do it though I think and I don't want to so I deal with it. I can hike for miles and miles or ride my bike as long as I want. Make the slightest lateral move with my left leg, and it will drop me to my knees in pain.

Not sure if they are related or separate. Guess I will find out tomorrow.

Wife swears by hers and goes at least 1X a month. She's talked me into going to her a few times when I have something aching. She pops shit around. Might feel a little looser afterwards but I'd rather save up and spend the $ with my massage therapist.

It’s expensive but really the best option is to go to an orthopedic surgeon or osteopath and get x rays and an mri to see what your actual issue is. If you are in as much pain as I’m assuming. And I’m definitely not qualified to give any medical advice, just a 20 year hand in the oilfield
