starbucks. I don't know why, but I stopped tipping there and I'm not going back.

On expensive bottles of wine. You tripled what you paid for it, I'm not about to give 20% on top of that. The same service comes with the $40 bottle as the $400 bottle.

I think a better question is where do you tip that other people do not tip at?

I tip at the tire stores, I tip the hostesses, I tip people who do different kind of work for me like a plumber.

beer and wine store - I mean wtf is that? I went in, got my booze off the shelf/out of the cooler, brought it to the counter, paid for it and the cashier, who did such an incredible job of punching the numbers into the register so that I could tap my card, deserves a bonus????? not a chance
If you are doing your job, you don't get a tip from me.
If, in the process of doing your job, you make me feel like the most special person in your whole world, I'll give you more than just the tip......

I tip my servers, nobody else. Usually 10-25% depending on how they did.

Drivethroughs....I laugh when I see a tip cup hanging outside a drive up window.

Takeout. When COVID first kicked off I did tip a few times picking food up if they looked really slow and it was a local favorite of ours.

Full service gas stations.

I can say The ONLY full service gas station I have ever been to was getting fuel in Oregon.

I don't think we even have those in Texas.

I don't understand how tipping got where it is in our culture.

What started off as a gratuity to show gratitude for service above and beyond the required effort to do your job, to a place where servers are pad UNDER minimum wage with the assumption they will make tips. Where people who do make a hourly wage, but want more, and we just willingly give it.

They have full service gas stations all over the east coast. You had to choose which lane you got fuel in self/full.

This stupid local restaurant where you make your bowl of food then they cook it for you. (Mongolian grill?)

They have waitresses who are obviously weeded through to get the hotter ones, which usually means they even do a poor job at bringing you drinks and soup

They usually take your drink order before you get in line, then are dumb enough to set your drink on the table while you sit in line for 30 mins doing the chefs job :homer:

I don’t tip my garbage man.

I dont tip when I go to a local brewery just to get a bottle to go. I cross out the "Tip" line. I do wonder if I am expected to tip though. I figure if Im not drinking on the premises, I'm not tipping.

Any food place where i pay first and have to fetch my own food

Me, too.

TatonkaII thinks we're all huge pieces of shit and even bigger cheap asses, by the way.
You are a huge piece of shit and a even bigger cheap ass. It's not the employee's fault.

I don’t tip bar owners who are serving

It’s normal to see triple mark up and more. I never understand why.

I agree with you point. On the inverse if one plate is bad and comped I add the cost back in to figure a tip. It’s not the waitresses fault.

This. Basic service should be baked into the price of whatever it is.... if someone does an exceptional job then they get a tip for doing so. Just doing your job shouldn't require special compensation.

Dont give a fuck.

Why do you tip? Good service correct?
If you are not providing the services that earn you tips i sure as fuck am not going to tip YOU when I am doing YOUR job.
