What's On Your Bench?

Started messing with this after it sat for about a year. RC4WD TF2 MC edition with the 85 4Runner body. Swapped in Fusion brushless motor with built in ESC, 2S lipo. I have a few things left to install, got CCHands sliders that tuck up to the body better, a tiny little camera that will look like a GoPro and actually works. But it needs some fine tuning for sure, doesn't like to go straight at the moment, the throttle is super touchy, needs some touch up painting, lights need to be connected to the receiver and the tailgate and rear glass interfere with each other.

Mocking up the next body for my SCX24, same base body as the current one just chopped more and with a bed/cage from an ECX barrage

I've got a custom axled RC4WD trail stomper thats a mutt, but I just picked up a SCX24 and picked up a 1/24 scale GMC truck model that I'm hacking up to fit around the chassis. I thought the SCX24 was kind of a dud out of the box, so I ordered up wheel weights, and thinking the motor is the next upgrade.

If you start adding weight to the wheels you're going to want a motor ASAP. Tires and a better motor/ESC are the best things you can do for them.

I didn't even know there was an ex section since I never leave chit chat. 🤣

Latest rig on the bench is my class 3 gayler. Swapped the servos and trans a while back.

Rcspeedy Ti chassis, treal capra axles and a dlux hamberger trans. She gets beat in hard and just keep on going.

I just finished up 4ws on my e10 buggy. I pieced the rear steering together with all spare parts I had on hand. It worked out pretty well.

The bomber is on the bench right now. Last time out testing the new 2spd and the center pin backed out of my front axle shafts (cheap u-joint set). That also snapped the iron cross locker in half. Waiting on my new incision lockers and axial shafts to arrive.

Not sure it counts as 'on the bench' unless you mean 'sitting this one out'. This is one of mine. Its been a while since its been out.

Just for fun anyone know what it is? I do, just curious if any recognize this pos.

Dirty ol' Nylint 1/6 scale! I had a few of the 1/18 scale ones when they were new, always wanted one of the big ones.

Bingo. Damn. I know some parts are obvious but i was for sure it wouldn't be that easy since its modified so much.

When I bought this one it wally world it was listed as the same price as the smaller version. Some kind of mistake. The guy who helped me couldn't believe it and promptly got one for himself. I literally sat waiting for the delivery truck at the store to see if I could get my hands in the sniper body version for days.

Had this for a few years. Finally started assembly. Still need to buy a radio and all the electronics. Putting it together on the table in my camper.

I love this rig! Would love to see some more pics.
I don't take many pics when I'm out playing so I don't have anything of action but I did pop an axial stub shaft running TGH wild overdrive gears in the portals. I've since converted all my capra based rigs over to VP shafts, they're stronger for damned sure.

That is an awesome rig! What shocks are those? They look like they fix the tall ride height issue with that chassis.

I think your going to be responsible for me spending alot of money.....lol

I spend way too much money on rc shit.

The shocks are long dravtech with offset dravtech caps all from dluxfab.com.

I've been doing this for a long time so if you need any pointers on blowing money like a drunk sailor I'm here for you. 🤣

Im lazy and just grabbed the capra 4ws to crawl with my son. He has a capra as well.

The 4ws version isn't all that bad. The servos suck and the radio is pretty terrible but for what it is it's great.

I built a couple 4ws Capra's last year and now it's the normal thing I guess. 😂

Whats a good steering servo to put in when the stock one shits the bed? My son (10) has the hitek Hs-7950th that has lasted him over a year so far. But im sure there are better options

This thing started out as a Redcat SC Blackout. The Diffs/Suspension and motor mount are the only thing left of the Redcat, aluminum frame, bent steel cage.

3500kv 3650 brushless motor
SC8 ESC
Hexfly 15kg servo
Flysky reciever
Steel welded drive shaft
Welded pin CVD axles
Longer travel shocks
1.9 Mud Bashers, double beadlocks
Diffs filled with the steel mix in JB weld (no hardener).

Goes pretty good on 2s. It has a lot of run time on it, atleast 20 hours.

I'm a power whore when it comes to servos so basically everything has 900 oz or better but I've had stupid good luck with the 25kg servo on Amazon. I've been running it in my trx4 beater for years and it gets trashed on like a 5 year old on a whole bottle of nodoz.

My wife is working on this:
20220127_203434.jpg

3D printed rc snowmobile. We will start it off with the brushless setup out of my axial yeti and go from there

Not a bench but rather RV kitchen table.

HPI Baja 5sc 1/5th scale
OBR prostock 30.5cc, victoryRC tuned pipe
All the TurtleRacing parts you can get
Aftermarket frame (forget brand)
Team Chase parts
RPM Arms on all corners
RCMAX front bulkhead
Cage

Went down the discontinued Axial rabbit hole with leftover parts. Building an Exo Terra with Yeti cast offs, NOS, aftermarket and close other brand parts so I guess it'll be a DB Terra or Exo Pro...

Would've been cheaper/easier to just buy a DB Pro roller but thats no fun... still a ways to go. Body and cage are a good fit though.

STRC main chassis
RPM F/R lower arms
GPM diff cups/outputs F/R
Axial HD Gears F/R 500k silicone in front diff
Lockedup RC lunchbox R Locker (if axles blow then open with 500k fluid)
Axial Center diff locker
Alloy Trans mount (ebay)
GPM F/R hubs
GPM axles

Need to draw up some chassis wings and rear shock tower to tie into the DB Pro hinge mount. Planning a 550 sized 3800kv brushless system on 3S.

Not on the bench, but on the shelf. Dually is a conversion kit for an old school RC10. And the boat I want to convert to electric.

I recently picked up an Axial Capra and turned it into an FPV Crawler. I have built rc cars on and off since the 1980's (My first car was a Tamaya Super Champ).
I have to say that driving FPV brings a whole new level of fun to rc crawling.

That's very cool! What "kit" or hardware do you need to do that?
It's a bit of a smorgasbord. I'm using the DJI Goggles that I fly drones will, a DJI air unit with micro caddx camera, a cooling fan for an 1/8 scale motor and various custom soldered wire connections. I can put together a more detailed list if you are interested? It's about $400 if you have the goggles and about $1k if you have to purchase everything.
