Ok so the great state of CA made the good gallon parts cleaner soaking bucket with basket illegal. I got a could sets of front hubs I'm going to need to clean, change bearings and races. They're packed full of grease which I've used rags and wiper it out pretty good but I'm looking for something I can soak these in to clean them with a simple brush after soaking for a while. Should I use a paint gallon and diesel or what solvent have you guys used that works good for this.

Does this stuff actually work? 1 Gallon Degreaser

For small stuff I just use my ultrasonic cleaner. It's all stainless so it handles solvents acids and bases just fine. Which I use depends on what I'm doing.

Honestly for oily shit old varnished gas works fine. You're probably not gonna find a cheaper degreasing solvent than gasoline.

I use gasoline in a sureshot sprayer and a blow nozzle on the air compressor 99% of the time anymore. I do it outside the shop by the trash barrels, so the mess is all out there and not anywhere in my shop. For stuff packed full of grease I would scrape as much as I could out and throw it directly in the barrels, then wipe it out with a shitty rag and throw that in the barrels, then start in with some gasoline and air... Quick, easy, effective, and not much mess to deal with afterward. Keeps my solvent in my solvent tank cleaner too.

when I was a kid my dad used gas to clean everything. parts, bearings, whatever. put it in a can and shake and swirl it. worked really well.

Another vote for gasoline...

And a cheap ass paintbrush. I have a dune buggy, annual CV maintenance with 50/50 mixes of thick CV grease and anti-seize made me realize there's nothing you can buy in CA that works better than gasoline.
