Crabgrass? Shit is aggressively overtaking my lawn.

Looks like the crabgrass we have on my lawn. Thing is- in our neighborhood, the only "grass" that looks green and thrives all year round with out tons of effort here in this part of California is crabgrass. Wife and I decided screw it, we'll let the crabgrass win. Did that and just mow it like regular grass and it works great for our purposes (letting kids run amok on the lawn, while hardly ever doing anything to take care of it.)

Yeah I've always said fuck it, as long as I have green ground cover. Just hate the look of patches growing taller than the actual grass between mowing.

We noticed that crabgrass can handle less water, so in the summer we just watered less. The good grass died off and the crabgrass took over. Might be we just got lucky. I'm far from a gardener. Just want green soft stuff for my kids to play on without spending a ton of time keeping a lawn alive.

My mom moved in next door recently and with her retired self went all in on landscaping her place. She got some fancy grass that looked really nice when they first laid it down and now about a year in it's struggling, and she's even got all that retired time to try and make it nice.. Crabgrass for the win.

Yours is all together, Smooth Crabgrass. Not like the crabgrass that bunches up in spots.

Nobody complaining about the Smooth :smokin:, carry on-

Years ago my mom (strong independent woman who didn't need no man) was bitching about the dandelions in the front yard, so bought Scotts weed killer. She didn't know the entire lawn was crabgrass and the weed killer left the yard bare

I spent many an hour with a crab grass rake on the church lawn where we used to be the maintenace

I need to catch my neighbor when he's mowing, so maybe I can donate to his extra curricular activity whatever that may be and get my yard well mtn flowers and weeds gone
