What's new

What type of upgraded control arms are available for first gen Tacoma?

Are there sleeves in the bushings?

Have any pictures of the upper a-arms/spindle/frame mounts?
How would I tell if it has sleeves without full disassembly?

Here are some close pictures passenger lower bushing area:

Behind red line is NOT a crack. How would I tell bushing is bad??

Nothing is jumping out at me as super worn out. Not virgin new.

I don't think there is a spindle just the unit bearing. Any specific angles on the frame mounts? Again, I didn't see anything on the frame that looked bent or cracked.

did you ever solve this mystery?
I'm not sure there is any "real solution" to making a stock height truck perform by replacing the stock control arms with an aftermarket. OTOH, I'm not sure anyone wants to admit to a road handling 4wd truck:shaking:

I haven't had a chance to get anything going... too much other shit has been failing that push this down; water pump, deer down the driverside, etc:homer: But I do have a pair of stock lower control arms in hand that I'm trying to replace the bushings with Energy Suspension poly. I thought I had a place set to press out the old bushings while keeping the inner sleeve intact. Turns out they were full of shit on their ability so now I'm trying to find time to get it handled.

So while I'm putzing around, the front tires are burning up nicely:homer::shaking:

I've fought that lower control arm bushing fight, and trust me, it's easier to just buy new toyota LCAs, especially if you gotta pay someone to do the press work.
