I got this old pistol as a gift. I know nothing about it. I’d like to find out anything I can about it. I know it’s not a shooter, but the person that gifted it to me didn’t know anything about it either. He inherited it from a relative. It’s single action. It has a loading gate with a small latch. There aren’t any markings on the entire gun. The cylinder has small notches to the exterior at each chamber. The barrel is rifled, but very crudely.

To me, that trigger guard looks European. Just trying to get the ball rolling...

Could it be something like this? I’ve never seen a pinfire pistol before.

Definitely in poor shape. This one isn’t marked. No proof markings. No manufacturer markings. I wonder if there are clones or they just didn’t mark some of their cheaper stuff.

Everybody was copying everybody else, especially back then. It got so bad that Colt permitted anybody to copy his designs as long as they sent him a percentage and marked the gun "brevet".

It almost looks like a blacksmith version of a pinfire. I wonder if it would have any collector value with no markings? I bet its worth a few hundred as a wall hanger.

Surprisingly the trigger is pretty crisp. Probably not drop safe though.
