You took an orbital and a single ended ram...or dual ended ram.

And built a press.

Feasible?

I know it would involve a motor and a pump.

But the cool factor:smokin:

I have an orbital and a motor and pump.

Could use a steering wheel to operate it.

Does it make enough tonnage or am I smokin crack:flipoff2:

You smokin crack.

You need a BIG ram to get anywhere near crappy bottle jack forces. Anything you would use on a crawler steering is just gonna be too small unless you're running it well above 2k PSI

Fat ole lady to sit on it, might be as good.
Your ideas on track but light

Orbitals are a volume controlling valve. Would be really tough to do precision work with it. Just stick to a hand lever.

Me personally I prefer a hand pump to o get a tactile feel of what your doing. That way you can get right up to that fine line of make shit happen and destroying shit.

Was mostly thinking for the press break factor.

I get what you're saying though.

My press is setup for pneumatic over hydraulic. Use the air to go fast. Use the bottle jack handle when you need more control or the gauge is reading over 5T.

Whatever you do you gotta put a suicide knob on it! :flipoff2:

And this. Plus a gauge is nice too. I know most of the time if something isn't moving by around 5 tons of pressure that something is crooked or I missed pulling a snap ring or something else stupid like that. Sometimes a few taps with a hammer under pressure is all that it takes to get things moving...

I really really like the 50 ton HF press. Mine at the farm shop has been rock solid reliable and I use it quite often. I bought another for my home shop that I haven't used any yet.

Just looked and they are $1400 now! If I remember right they were around $800-900 when I bought them and I used a 25% off coupon to make them even cheaper!

We do that of heavy shafts 2-4" diam. Typical heavy rolls with +1" thick construction that are sweat fit on the shaft. Typicaly 500lb + and way beyond what we can heat with rosebuds.

We have a 50t otc press with a hydropac and 5kpsi gauge. Shit get weird at 5k and co workers have ran that around and again.

We use tapor lock hubs on most stuff but many rolls have been inservice for 7-10years. While they can be dificult they are generaly removable. Its those sweat bastards that turn into destructive situations.

Weve got one in the shop now. If i get stuck with it ill post pics. 3-7/16 or 3-15/16 shaft.

I clicked the wrong post to put that in😂

486 will be along shortly:flipoff2:
better one I've seen is driving a diesel injection pump with an electric motor that just runs full speed all the time you're using the press
four hard lines all tee'd together into the cylinder
delivery valves work for the check valves and it'll do 20k psi easy

use the fuel rack for your "teasing trigger" as they call it on pneumatic tools
