What exotic cars deliver? Paging Gary and other rich white old guys.

Which cost more to build than most exotics.

Maybe, but it's still an all steel brick (compared to most exotics) doing 260 mph. It holds the record at Mojave, beating a twin turbo McClaren, holds the record at Bonneville and can hold its own on a road course.

Bullshit.

How much is a McLaren or any of those other exotics you see only rich guys with no driving talent cruizing in?

If you need to spend $500,000 to make old iron hang with an exotic, in the words of Frank: Your doing it wrong.

Plenty of used Mclarens for a lot less than $500K. In fact very few are that much new.

I just saw a new Corvette with manufacturer plates from the front and look like a Ferrari from the back is when I could tell it was a mid-engine Vette it sounded awesom.
..

but I agree with the others go Porsche... my buddy just picked one up 3 years old 42k it's his dream car....had 20k miles on it....

That's the 2020 C8 Corvette. It's a mid-engined car that lists for around $80k, but they're going for around $80-120.

Great alternative - used liter bike, good riding gear and some common sense.

No car will match its performance (400lbs / 200 hp)...

There are plenty of “old iron” cars making the “exotics” look like a complete joke for much less than 500k:lmao::lmao:

having owned a ducati superbike back in the day I agree

however im looking for something with panty dropped factor, value, and something that can seat at least 1 other person

something to aim for as midlife crisis car, ya know

I have had a life long love affair with the Porsche 911. I have had several sports type cars and the 1989 964 C4 I had was my favorite. I am now looking at getting a 997 series, 2005-2012. Last 911 type made before Porsche turned into VW. Much more refined than my older 964, more reliable and much faster. As far as bang for the buck, you can't really beat a Porsche.
A few I am looking at

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-carrera-s-43/

Serious VROOM GT2, but it will go for much more than your budget.

My favorite so far. Beautiful car, 2009 so all the 997 bugs are gone, fast enough and with enough miles on it so it should go for a good price. That interior is special order to have a two color door panels, black dash with terracotta seats and carbon fiber inserts. Not usually a fan of black, but I might be a bidder on this one.

I have a friend like OP, every 6 months he asks me if he should get a Porsche or rather an AMG...
If you are asking, you aren't buying anyhow...

That said: expensive cars are like normal cars, just more expensive. Everything from Italy is ACTUALLY a Fiat. Everything from Germany... Everything from the USA...

Basically, everything up to Mclaren level is "the same same".

If youre anything in real life like you are here youre going to need more than an exotic for panty dropper appeal.

You better look closer at that car. Underside pic looks like that thing has occasionally been driven in winter and power cleaned for the pics. You dont want a NE or MidWest car that has been driven in winter. Youre in CA why by a rust car?

So, a Lamborghini is a Fiat ? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think you mean a 6.0 AWD Denali. First there was no 8.0 engine. It is an 8.1. Second the 8.1 was only available in the 2500s which were not available with AWD. I think youre full of shit and you have no idea what an exotic is.

Hopefully you believe me, this is not a 'challenge' as is normally seen in these scenarios...

What is the context in which you have become familiar with these exotics, and how familiar are you? Is it a string of ownership or being around them?

Corvette of course has the wide reputation of being a viable car, but I'd like to hear more about the baby Lambos and other 'attainable' cars and how you came to know them. C'mon all I have is fantasies, don't keep us hanging. Tell us more than just a few mentions, I take you at your word.

...By deliver, I mean something that would hold its value fairly well, have the performance, quality, and hopefully an engine that will make it 80k miles without major work?

A manual gearbox is preferred

Ahem:

No, it's owned by the VW group....

...and you'll find Audi/VW parts on them when you start tearing them apart.

Had a Huracan at the house for audio work. I don't see the appeal. Granted, it's a cool car. Makes nice engine music, but it's good at being a Lamorghini and that's about it.

It has push-button start that's hidden behind a red flip-up cover. That cover is plastic and feels cheap as fuck when you move it up/down. But...that cover also has a hole in it that allows you to just stick your finger through the hole to press the start button. Negates the need to open/close the cover.

The center dash/console has tons of switches. All plastic. Looks great in pictures, feels cheap as fuck in the car.

If you're in the car and move in the seat the seat creaks. In a $250,000 car. And I understand weight reduction is the reasoning behind all the plastic but when a car that expensive feels cheaply made it's maddening. I have a 2006 Audi A4 Avant that has tighter tolerances in fit for the dash pieces than that Huracan had.

But...it's fun to drive. When you're in an isolated area, anyway. If there's traffic around you likely can't change lanes because people will be trying to get pictures. Seems the blind spot is the best location for the ideal picture.

Oh, and everyone wants to race. Hondas. Subarus, CTS-Vs. Challengers.

you douche, Ive owned an AMG and two M cars, and Ill be fucked sideways if I dont own an exotic in this lifetime. I dont care if Im living and sleeping in it - I will own one.

Do you guys really consider Corvettes, BMW and Porsche's exotics? I would never put those three in the category. They are sports cars.

Or you could go the other way, find those dumb expensive cars that take a nose dive in depreciation and not worry about value. Maybe not real exotics but I see mid $30k for a 10 year old Bentley GT, mid $20k for a 10 year old Maserati, etc. Pretty expensive new, new Honda Accord now.

In an attempt to set a probably unrealistic but still aimable goal, I am curious what ~100k exotic cars deliver. Mercedes GT? New vette? Nissan GTR? Porsche gt3 or something? Aston Martin?

Look at a Lotus for entry level exotic. Most exotics these days can get decent miles on them if you aren't on the track - 60-80k. I hit 161MPH in an Exige limited edition race car on Watkins Glen... it was faster than that but a fun top speed for a while.... then I got in a McLaren super car and could hit 160+ on a curved highway on ramp before the straight away, super cars are something I hope everyone can experience once.
