Just got to thinking, with everyone being spread out across the country we all target different species. So, what do you hunt or fish for?

Me, hunting is mostly whitetail or opportunistic hogs/exotics. I have some private land I can hunt for white tails and hogs, but with two small kids I haven’t done that much over the past couple of years. So, my whitetail hunting is mainly public land trips.

I used to be hard into duck hunting, but I’m not as mad at them as I used to be. We primarily have pintails and redheads here, so you get a quick 3 bird limit. Occasionally, we might have widgeon, gadwall, teal, or other small ducks that you find on the coast. When I lived in AR, I would hunt green timber and rice fields.

I’m an occasional sandhill crane and dove hunter if the opportunity presents itself.

Fishing is mainly saltwater anymore going after speckled trout, redfish, drum or sheepshead. I love to fly fish, and will do it from time to time for redfish, but work kept me away from that this year.

Stopped chasing ducks after they pulled a dam and fucked up my spot

I chase blacktail, and a bear or cat if the opportunity presents itself.

Quail/grouse depending on if there was a good hatch or not

Have one lil mountain lake that F&W hasnt fucked up yet. So I'll fish that for brook trout every so often.

Not much into fishing so that is an occasional activity. My Bro-in-law has a nice little 10 acre pond on his place That I like taking my nephews to for some perch and bass fishing.

I chase after Ducks west of Houston, Quail, Hogs, Deer and dove on my land and hopefully I get into some Cranes this December.

I would love to perch myself on a hilltop overlooking a partial wooded valley/plains and just spend the days sniping feral hogs.

Being that they rival cockroaches in infestation; my blue side doesn't feel guilty killing them at will.
That; and I know I'm feeding the local wildlife.:grinpimp:

yea we shoot the shit out of the hogs. 450 Bushmaster for anything under 200..300WSM for longer shots or spotted during deer season.

Forgot to add coyotes to list too. my buddy made national news with his last coyote hunt with Aaron Lewis a week or so ago..32 dogs in 3 nights and spelled out Trump 24 in dead bodies...

Mostly deer for eating, but I like squirrel hunting. It is a nice walk in the woods and a couple of squirrels are a lot easier to carry out than even a small deer. Fish, anything from a farm pond to tuna. I love fishing and no matter how much the boat costs, or whose it is, I want to sling fish guts across the transom.

Bass , crappie, pan fish, walleye, muskie. Strip pits mostly, head north for the cold water fish.

Whitetail and turkey mostly. Also hunt gray squirrel and cotton tail rabbit. No hogs here. I don't hunt ducks but we have quite a few different ducks around. Upland birds to a lesser extent. It's been a few years since I've shot a quail or a pheasant.

as far as fishing goes on the spring it's trout. Summer we fish bass, sunny, and crappie. In the fall we fish the salmon run and get into some pike. I love to ice fish. Usually hammer the perch and will sometimes go for musky.

When I get out, it's more about actually getting out, than it is actually catching/shooting anything.

Fishing is mostly trout, occasionally salmon if I'm around when they're running.

Been going for whitetail off and on for years, at some point it basically turned into a winter camping trip with tags and rifles.

"Maybe there's deer down this road!"

I pissed off a buddy good doing that years ago. He'd never been hunting, I'd never spent much time in that area.

Ended up wandering down every logging road and trail I could fit the truck down, never saw so much as a doe.

Mostly fishing for me, used to shoot birds long time ago. I don't really fish fresh water to often, I'm mostly on the ocean. Prize stuff for me would be ling cod, Dungeness crab "which starts next weekend! ", tuna, halibut, spiny lobsters, surgeon. I really miss abalone...

Used to hunt all the birds till I had my daughter now we just fish. We like catching the large mouth bass and blue hill the most. She hasn’t got a salmon yet. She got a catfish and freaked out. Hope to try some saltwater this next year.

Given the numbers of turkey and white tail on the property I should be hunting those. However, last time I hunted anything was hogs down in TX last year. It was less hunting and more shooting a pig to watch it die...

I would love to do a hog hunt, or even prairie dogs on someone's private land. Nothing like that here locally in Iowa.

Used to hunt a lot of deer. Pheasants. Which are now just finally coming back in population. But really Tired of sitting in the cold, dark, wiped down with deer piss. Or trudging through deep grass and weeds to see nothing, maybe shoot a rabbit or squirrel because no pheasants around.

Duck hunt. Fishing.

Duck hunting is always spotty, but we are sitting in a boat with a blind, usually heated and often times we are cooking breakfast and it can be a pleasant place.

Fishing anymore is usually on the river, just looking for catfish. Cause I am lazy, more about getting away by yourself rather than casting all day.

My youngest son is turning into a walleye junkie so we have been doing more of that.

I just don't get the thrill of the hunt like I used to. So not driven or motivated for it anymore.

Been shooting on a trap league for a couple years, that will make you think you are a horrible shot and question how you ever hit anything. LOL

Agreed on the watching them die part. Every pasture, field and road has damage left by Hogs. My buddies do the ol hog dog route with a big knife. Its even more satisfying. Their boys are stone cold killers.. and they let me tag along from time to time.

Whitetail, Turkey and Upland birds.

I have an 18 month old English Setter and have spent every free minute I have either training her or hunting her. Man it's fun to see it all come together for a dog. I've never trained a pointing dog before, but it is quickly becoming my passion.

I primarily hunt whitetail, but also casually hunt turkey every year. The DNR does a pheasant put and take, I usually do that and hunt out in SD every other year or so too.

Squirrel and rabbit are fun, but don't interest me enough to make a dedicated hunt out of it.

Used to dove hunt every September, but the doves have dried up here. I've hunted goose and ducks in the past, and really enjoy it. But There's not a lot of opportunity locally. I lived in SD for three years and hunted pretty regularly on public potholes.

Central BC, Canada. I only hunt around here, not into doing the big out of area trips.
Mostly hunt mule and whitetail deer ( mule are 1000% more numerous, but the whitetail are out there too)
Lots of grouse, snowshoe hare have been scarce the past few years, but cats were plentiful. Now cats are scarce and bunnies are back. I like the hares to eat but really I want the hides. I am just learning to tan them and it is coming along. I hope to get lots this winter.
I also shoot squirrels in my yard because I hate the little bastards as they are very destructive. I tan their hides too. I find it interesting that squirrel hides are much stronger than bunnies .
I'll take a coyote or wolf if I get the chance so I can do the pelt but they are shot on sight by ranchers so fairly scarce.

Grouse are the only things I hunt anymore. Easy to find, dumb bird that actually tastes alright. Western Oregon has some places that plant pheasants that i'd like to road trip to and try out someday.

Inshore saltwater or surf fishing here in South FL.

-Various Snapper species (Yellowtail, Mangrove, Mutton, Lane, dog, schoolmaster)
-Pompano from the beach in spring/fall
-Snook
-Sheepshead
Honestly there are a ton more saltwater species that get sucked into the inlets. A lot of good fighting sport fish as well. Tarpon and big jacks are my favorite.

I’ve been hunting exactly once and put a slug into a hog at 70 yards with the Saiga 12. Not messing with my 100% success rate :flipoff2:

Whitetail and turkey. Pheasants once in awhile. Squirrels occasionally.

We don't fish much anymore, but the wife and I used to fish almost every weekend in the summer. My favorite to fish for is catfish. My wife's favorite is panfish. Walleye fishing on Lake Erie was fun, I'd like to do that again.

every year i get cougar bear and deer tags. grouse and small game is included in those tags here sometimes do a trip to mainland for elk or moose, commercial fish albacore tuna, and sometimes lingcod. hang out with friends to jig up rockfish or halibut. troll salmon to drink beer with friends if im around during the season.
id say i maybe buy 1000$ of random pork lamb , chicken raised by friends to supplement the harvest a year.

Fishing I usually focus on cold water Trout - Cutthroat, Brook, Brown, Rainbow, Cuttbow, and Tiger- and in one particular lake Arctic Grayling.
Warm water its Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted bass, Black and White Crappie, Walleye and Sauger, Bluegill and other Sunfish.

Hardly ever hunt any more but if I do its usually Pheasant and Quail.
