What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

picked up a parts truck. Carbon copy to my current truck, besides it having a C6

Confirmed that the Aerostar cranks but doesn't start and doesn't even try to no matter where I twist the distributor and then pulled the battery for the winter.

Figured out that the harness for a '93 Ranger with the 3.0 and A/T is not the same as a '94 with the 3.0 and M/T. The engine and front body harness is all correct save for there being a couple unused plugs but the big round pass through connector is pinned all wrong. Like the check oil light comes on when I turn on the headlights, the voltage gauge goes backwards. Hopefully I didn't break anything. Of course '93 is one of the few years I don't have an EVTM for.

Spent most of the day working on the pig.
I got the headboard welded up and put on, put the rubrails on and some bracing for the headboard. Tomorrow I'll grab some screws to finish the decking and also pick up some lumber to build the sideboards out of.

Drove through a field in 4WD today and requested $ from the ins. co from an accident a while back. :flipoff2:

Contemplated building a 10-15 year old F-150 for general driving purposes with a few upgrades and touches. It has to be cheaper than buying a newer one when you need it.

In the last week
Pulled the POS PITA alarm outta the mountaineer(it’s a fancy fucking Ford so it counts :flipoff2: )
Confirmed that was the parasitic drain. Load tested the battery with one of them fancy testers and set it for 750 CCA like is printed on the battery, came up as 435 CCA. $100 for a new battery at Costco and it starts perfectly again, don’t have to worry about the stupid chirp chirp and wife calling me at work telling me the fucker won’t start when she’s half an hour away

Installed the blue spring kit on my 6.0 and possibly fixed the fuel leak I couldn’t find(YouTube told me that gasket is a known leaker.)
Took apart the egr housing thing on the top of the oil cooler and checked the o ring, it was fine. One of our contractors was in the shop and gave me some flange sealer to put on the o ring (they use it to seal everything including head gaskets, I think loctite makes it and it’s not cheap). Put it back together, struggled getting the little blue hose back on and sprayed the entire area with brake cleaner to get rid of residue and dried the area out. That was Wednesday, checked yesterday afternoon after driving 150 miles and it was all still dry.

"Yamabond case halve sealant" is cheap and held in high regard for those sorts of applications.

Decided not to rebuild/reseal the 289. Seals were all hard, questionable freeze plug, don’t feel like taking the gamble.

Gonna ask my buddy at beach city broncos if he has a 302 for sale or buy a remanufactured roller 5.0 from sandjengines.com

how/where did you run that portion of cage that does into the cowl?
It goes down to the rock slider, which is incorporated into the body mount.

The b and c pillars are internal.

Have one out of an 03(?) in my bronco. Much better than the original one with the cup throwers that aimed everything right at the stereo
That center console is another one of those punch in the face engineering stupid fucking ideas

Checked for the leaks I repaired last week. Those are gone. There is still a little oil coming out on top or it could just be dirty coolant residue migrating out of crevices. Looked underneath and found my pinion seal is leaking. That will be next

Got a call about an excursion up the mountain stuck on some ice,

Put these on the ranger and was not impressed, I may need more weight.
