What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

that's the best, fresh oil coating everything to keep it nice and lubed up on the outside :rasta:

yeah... when I started hearing it hitting the concrete, all I could do is shake my head.

And why doesn't a dana60 have a drain plug? Dang 'murican stuff is different than toyotas...

That's too easy.

I want instructions/how-tos from nameless/faceless/imaginary internet friends.:laughing::flipoff2:

Got all the belts on the 78 F150, she's whole again. No more squealing alternator belt, AC works great!

Yesterday was a fail: I tried swapping out the power valve on the 67 Bronco for an 8.5 valve.. got it all back together and had to have my foot on the gas to get it to run. Took the fuel bowl off, checked my work several times, tried old gaskets, old power valve, etc over and over and got the same result. Not sure what I screwed up but I ran out of time. I just don't have the time/motivation right now so I dropped the carb off at a shop in Santa Ana that has a stellar reputation. He'll rebuild it and then wants me to drive the Bronco to his shop where he hooks it up to a machine and tunes it further. We'll see how that goes.

Frankly I'm tired of working on the gf's Bronco because I want to focus on the F150. The Bronco runs/drives fine except for that stumble. With that said, I'm turning my attention to the 1-ton axles and getting them ready for now (remove dust-shield, rotors, calipers, brake lines/hoses, clean-up track bar mount for a custom mount).

Pulled the dust shields off the 05 Dana 60. Driver's side was fine, passenger side locking hub O-ring was stretched out and let some water in. This is what I'm looking at:

Wiped "clean":

The seal/bearing on the hub seemed to clean up fine. The end of the shaft has some build up (picture of the build up is blurry), enough to catch your finger nail on. It seems like if I clean everything up and just replace the o-ring on the hub I should be fine, or is there probably a mess inside that unit-bearing?

Blew a tranny line on Sunday :(
Lines are dealer only, called local dealer and they happen to have one ( a set) that had been there for a while and the parts guy told me I could have it for $118 ........score!
I went and picked it up, got the old one off but ran into a snag trying to get the connects apart for the cooler lines so called O'reilly's and the girl there said she could have the two cooler lines I needed at 3:30. Hopefully I can get it back together after PT tomorrow.
ETA: It sucks working on your back under the truck!

Made a point of only driving the 78 F150 today: lunch, groceries, gym, aimlessly cruising.. it's like a time machine but with AC and powerful heat (actually needed both today), steers and stops effortlessly. I love it. Getting close to time to degrade that experience with 1-tons and 40's :flipoff2:On that note, the front D60 is put back together, need to bend up some brake lines/install hoses, then turn to the 10.5 and do the same.

Picked up the carburetor for the Bronco yesterday, the guy that rebuilt it said it was super dirty inside. Going to add a fuel filter right after the tank and replace the one after the pump. That stuff is arriving tonight, maybe get it all set up tomorrow. Whether or not it still has a stumble at cruise around 2200rpm he wants me to drive it up there so he can hook it up to his machine and tune it further, I'm happy to do so since it doesn't cost extra.

I plan to enjoy the F150 for a little while as the Bronco gets to a point that it's ready to drive regularly, and then when WFO has their Black Friday sale I'll buy the rest of the shit I need and start tearing the F150 apart in my driveway.

Trying to get off Facebook and back to the forums.
Got a newer truck recently. Killer deal, 6.2 F250. Texas truck recently (2 years ago) brought to Indiana.
Traded traded the factory bed for this bradford and got it installed.

Had to cut he new lines in half and use compression junctions but I got it done. ETA: All-Data said to 1) remove exhaust system, 2) remove starter, 3) remove sway bar....NOPE!
I honestly think with some help you could feed them in from the front one by one.
I've got to add some fluid tomorrow and maybe take it for a test drive.

78 F150 - just driving it like it’s my daily, love it. Not much horsepower to speak of but the torque compared to the Bronco makes this truck feel like a locomotive off the line/going up hills.

67 Bronco - added fuel filter before the pump, replaced one after the pump (both clear). Put the rebuilt Holley on and it sounded so much smoother to me. Idle mix was off but took it for a drive, no more stumble. The guy that rebuilt the carb said it was pretty dirty inside, I could see how that would cause the stumble. Going to drive it up to his shop some time next week and let him tune it further instead of dicking around with it myself. It looks like he has some machine with a wide band on it, vacuum, and whatever else. Since the tune is included with the rebuild i’m happy to let him do it.
