We sometimes see some odd things on Google Maps and I'm sure it's just that they're using some sort of AI image merge tool that creates interesting artifacts, but sometimes it triggers the conspiracy theorist in me.

For today's finding, I present an invisible airplane at the Louisville, KY airport:

That’s an overlay problem. Plane as there LiDAR was overlayed when a plane wasn’t there for the picture.

My favorite was sitting at Michigan State University Pavilion, and Google said I was at Ohio State University. I thought that was funny as hell.

I don’t have any of the content saved but there are a lot of great groups on Facebook that post some good ones.

The algorithm detected the white plane as "not pavement" and overlayed it with images of the pavement from another date.

The algorithm did not to the same for the pavement that had the shadow of the plane on it.

Pretty sure somewhere there's a website with a list of planes caught in flight on Google maps.

IIRC you can do math and see how fast the plane was going based on how far shifted the colored shadow is.
