I have a European Jeep diesel AX15. Actually two of them. IIRC they have a 5.4:1 first gear ratio and were never offered in the US. The only info I can find is that someone used to offer a kit to convert a US AX15 to the 5.4 first gear ratio back in the early 2000's using a Nissan or XXX? trans. The guy I got them from imported them back in the early 2000's through a buddy of his at Jeep.

One is NOS and one that was in a project Jeep I bought that I ended up rolling. The used one has 4 or 5 trail runs, the NOS one has been sitting on a shelf for 15+ years inside and has a thick coating of dust. Basically both in the near new condition.

I can't find any info on what these are worth. Anyone have any idea what I should ask for them? How to market them?

The transmission in question is a Hino/Dyna R452 made by the Aisin Corporation. They were 2wd transmissions that had a 5.15 first gear. Marlin Crawler imported a handful of them in the late 90s and installed the gear cluster into R150 transmissions.

So the guy that sold the Jeep to me said 5.4:1. Is it 5.4 or 5.15? I'd like to be correct when I list them. I can't find crap for info on them.

I gotta say it worked well with 404 portal boxes, 3:1 9" gears and a rubicon case. Right up to the point I ran out of talent.:homer:

The guy is incorrect. The first gear ration is 5.15. If you want to be anal about it the ratio is actually 5.1468529.

So you seem to know a tiny bit about these. Care to offer some insight on value and where to sell them?

I'm not that anal:lmao:
There is a 20 year old post on Marlin Crawlers forum by Marlin himself. He goes into detail about the transmissions gears ratios and the parts needed to put them into an AX15/R150.

Marlin was paying $400 to $600 per transmissions back in the late 90s. $750 would be a good start.

Was this the trans/ratio from the R151f, was used in the Turbo 22RE. For like two years, maybe only in 1988?

I put one into my ‘83 for the lower first.

No. Those had a 4.31 first gear.

86-87… others covered the gear ratio.

Is there any external indicator for OEM transmissions to verify ratio? Not sure if I believe the guy I got them from.

Or just put it in first and rotate and count?

Lol. There are no stickers or markings on the case. This is a post from Marlin himself as he built multiple transmissions with that ratio. I’d take his word over some random jack-off.

Gotta count the teeth for the only way to confirm. The sought-after part is the counter shaft and 1st gear. The rest should be the same as anything else.
