Am I doing it right? Lol. Time to stretch this sucker and get the XJ springs out back.

This is about where the rear tires are going to sit after I extend the frame. Got a 4runner rear shaft. Measures 47" long (stock rear is about 20"). Finally gonna put my pentadapters to use.

Driveshaft is in. XJ springs attached. Wheelbase to be about 109". The factory bumpers will provide a decent base to build the hangers off of. Turning the XJ shocks mounts 90 degrees will work for my lower shock mounts (after I cut the u bolts down).

Damn that’s long. Are you gonna bring the front out a bit or leave it?

Im gonna be shooting for around 100 even when I stretch. I think I’m like 84” right now. It’s actually great in tight New England woods, but any sort of hill gets sketchy.

I've moved the front forward 2 or so inches doing the RUF set up. I may extend the front another 3/4"-1", not sure yet.

I almost decided to just do a tube buggy rear end, and run a front shaft for the rear, hang the XJ springs from the stock hanger location. This would've got me to about a 90" wheelbase.

Got the hangers where I want them. Just need to burn them in and reinforce them now.

Frame is burned in. Front shackles are burned in. Just gotta fishplate the frame then moving on to the rear shackle hangers.

Been a minute since I posted progress. It's back on all 4 tires. Got a junk-ass 10x1.0 brake line junction at AutoZone that ain't gonna work. So going to Summit Racing in Reno tomorrow to get the right stuff. Also got the roll bar tied into the frame, and got the body prepped to weld in the back rub wall.

I know my shackle angle isn't the best; it hits the frame upon compression. I'm going to cut these out and weld in something that'll work with the stock XJ shackles.

More updates. Progress on rear bumper, tail lights and license plate. Cab almost fully enclosed. Finishing it up tomorrow. Then reinforcing my driver's seat mounts because they're fatigued and we're about to rip out. Then I can begin figuring out modifying my soft top to only enclose the truck cabin while also retaining the roll up back window.

The bulk head is finished. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
