Well, mostly

Today we moved the youngest into her dorm and got her all settled in. She is a two hour drive away so we expect her home on weekends and holidays occasionally

It’s a weird feeling having one kid on the east coast, and the other half way to Oregon in school

Oh... the first person the kid meets in the dorm

A girl named Rona

My daughter is closing escrow on her first house tomorrow. She stayed with us until she could afford to purchase instead of rent. Smart kid. I'm keeping the dog, she can get another one. It is a little weird when they are finally making their own way in the world.

You guys making plans to travel, or redo the room(s) that kid used to be in, or?
I worry about it myself. Trying to enjoy each day because I know time flies.

Oldest is married, and they are in upstate New York. SIL is Army stationed at Fort Drum. Her room has been turned into Mrs work from home office/extra pantry space

Youngest’s room will stay hers as long as she needs it (Unless she becomes a squealing liberal ;) )

Fawk, just posted this in the “first day of school” thread, this thread is more appropriate.

Just dropped my youngest off at college today... momma had a melt down when we were leaving the neighborhood and everyone was walking their kids to our nearby elementary school. Hard to believe that every August from ‘04-‘13 we made that same walk with our girls and just so happened we drove by this morning with the truck loaded heading off to college, where the hell does time go...

We got home and I stripped naked and started walking around the house! My wife was struggling, but she got a good chuckle out of that. Told her to get used to it and that she had better join the party!

It’s a fawked up feeling to be honest, for the last 22 years we have had a child under our roof. Even when/if one or both move back, I know it will only be temporary.

Turn her old bedroom into an office as fast as you can. Get rid of all couches, or anything else that might be comfortable to sleep on. Change locks on doors.

Enjoy life.

I cant imagine the feeling. Im 40 and just had a son. My oldest is 8 and I feel like she grew up in the blink of an eye. Enjoy it man!

Congratulations!!!
I cannot wait for mine to get the fuck out!
My oldest girl starts her senior year and my youngest girl starts her freshman year of high school.
They are great girls but I am ready for them to be gone.

Meanwhile I still have lunch with my folks multiple times a week.

My 10 month old son kept us up from 2am to 5am last night because he didn't feel like sleeping and just wanted to shout to hear his echo. He then had an explosive poop that came out both pant legs, arm holes, and neck in 1/2 a second. Showered him, changed sheets, wife started laundry, went to work.

I'm sure when I'm in your shoes these precious moments will seem fleeting but for now I'm tired and want to banish the kids to the chicken coop.

Sent my youngest off to college last year. She comes back for break and occasionally laundry on the weekends. We started building a new house on the lake. Almost done with it. I really miss our youngest, she is turning out to be fun and intelligent. My oldest is still a constant asshole with a case of idiocy. Love him too much to give up hope though. He has cut all communication with us which is hard on the wife. That actually made it easier for me. Strange dichotomy between the two.

mine are 29, 27 and 25 seems i have raised boomerang children, they go off but then they come back in a year or two. the oldest is in Montana, the middle one got divorced and moved back with the two grand children and the youngest lives with her husband down the street. i can t complain life is pretty good.

Im gonna be old as fuck when my kid is old enough to be out

Actually its kind of depressing lol.

Congratulations!!!

There is probably a post from me on another forum that is identical to yours, and I mean word for word! As 4 year ago I was in the exact same position- oldest starting her senior year, youngest starting her freshman year. My advice- listen to them. When they come home and want to tell you about their day, or their drama, or whatever, stop what you're doing for a few minutes and actively listen. Really easy to get into your routine and take for granted those conversations. It's not the same over the phone. Those and many others are the little moments you never think about...

The visual of this made me laugh pretty good :lmao: we have boys 7, 2 and 1, so I know all about blow outs. Not sure if I've ever seen one shoot out every opening in a indie though :lmao:

Reminds me of my oldest son's fondest camping memory. He was about 3 1/2. We were all laying in the the tent, and I ripped a fart. I jokingly told him to go under the covers and give it a whiff. Without hesitation, he dives under and almost immediately claws back out gagging then pukes. :lmao::lmao: it's was so damn funny I wasn't even mad about the puke on my sleeping bag.

Chico, it just feels like half way to Oregon :homer:

Not trying to be creepy, :flipoff2: but I'm in chico at least a few times a week if you ever need help with whatever.
