I have about 15-20 inside the shop vac currently. I must have a nest inside one of my egress windows.

I sucked out what I could and have caulked the holes shut.

I don’t hear them buzzing around inside the house but previously had a nest that I removed when we did renovation work (unsure how old it was)

How long do you figure these bastards will live in the walls? I figured if I attacked it now while there is minimum workers inside the nest I’d have better chances of eradicating what’s there.

There’s a yellow jacket hole in the ground outside one of my windows at the house. It’s been there at least a year. It’s been sprayed several times, but seems to keep on ticking.

If they don't have access to food and water, they will die off in short time. The nest is likely still on the small side at this time too, which is a blessing. Another month or two and you would have a real problem.

Just reset one of the useless traps I bought and threw chicken in it. We were eating dinner outside a few weeks ago and the bastards were flying away with it. I trapped one 30 secs after setting it back up.

This should take care of some of these bastards.

No dog… just my retarded self, shirtless with the shop vac 😂

Didn’t get stung once!

I should toss some watermelon in the other one and see what happens

Here’s your last meal cocksucker

I leave the nest alone, they will die off in the late fall. Or let the skunks eat them. Circle of life- :flipoff2:

Shop Vac sounds like fun.... I picked up a Scorpian the other day with my vac...I know that fucker is still alive; they are tough to kill. :homer::homer::homer:

Got the filters out of your shop vac? Suck up about a gallon or two of soapy water. Next time, but a couple inches of soapy water in the shop vac first.

Filter was out because I was vacuuming muddy water. I killed em with the mud 😝

Years ago, I found out the hard way that our ground-based yellowjackets aren't impressed at all by wasp spray (and they get really pissed about being sprayed with it ).

My solution, which hasn't failed me since I figured it out: quart oil bottle like pic below w/ bottom cut off (it's my favorite funnel) + a 3/4" steel gage ball + ~a pint of acetone (or gasoline). I prefer acetone because there isn't a bunch of weird unknown shit going into our soil.

EDIT: wait until night time unless you love drama

Drop / shove funnel (upside-down bottle w/o bottom) into ground wasp hole, dump in acetone, drop in gage ball (it stops at the green arrows, seals the fumes & prevents hostiles escaping). I did one last year in our new yard & about a 10' diameter of the ground vibrated like a subwoofer for about a minute, then Jonestown. Dug it up the next day & there were hundreds of the dead mu'fuggers, it was a big colony.

Sprinkle some of this on edge around the hole
They’ll be gone in a day

Works for nests in walls too

also the spray on right is just meh.

This spray works way better than the usual stuff you buy at hardware store, I bought a whole case

Construction the ingredients to the usual shit…

Te answer to the original actual question is less than one year. The queens can overwinter or survive in milder climates. We had a guy at the old place, he was a legitimate bug guy. Yotasmob ?? He had All kinds of weird and horrible shit bugs and arachnids and pupating crawly shit in enclosures . . .. I always wondered if he would post up if he fucked up and some got out and nested in his far reaches . . .. .

They'll die in the walls, or find another way out. Hopefully not into your house.

That Tempo dust posted above is the shit for killing insects in places you can't spray. If its a large colony, you may have to apply it more than once, but every time I have used it, it has worked.

Of course that powder is banned/controlled in Canada ffs!

I heard them against this morning and they removed some of the caulk I installed yesterday. I assumed they pulled it in as I couldn’t find it in the window well.

Sucked up around 30 yesterday around 25 this morning. Stuffed the hole with steel wool and will keep an ear and eye out for them flying around. It appears it might be paper wasps and explains why the yellow jacket traps have been ineffective.

A causality of war from this morning. I’m out of spray so off to the store I go and I’ll get some backer rod and caulk for an old hole I see where there was a nest years ago in another window (I removed it 4 years ago during a reno)
