War Pig Version 12

Oh and I got the oil filter kit in... and ordered fuel and oil plumbing from Summit Racing.

Looking good. I’m still amazed by that valence.
Bumper is turning out nice.

What's the best way to spend your 51'st birthday?

Welding.

Got some scrap tubes to mock up something with? It does look cleaner without though.
The only way I can see it... and I don't like it.

What about coming straight up off of the pieces where the bumper goes from straight to angled and put a couple of crossbars between them, nothing in front of the headlights?
Something sort of like this:

Happy birthday Fawker
Thanks, was yesterday.

I thought about that, but not really a fan. I love this grill, did a lot of work to get it on there.

This should have had a Load Star nose on it. Converted the entire cowl area to go with the pick up truck nose.

So one of the things that makes me happy.

When Jeff Watts (CamaroGenious) died, I had two BOFOR's tubes from the Iowa.

I TIG'd some of his ashes into one, as an urn

The other one is going to be a crossmember in this truck. I am keeping it.

???
I was thinking something like what you had drawn out, but without the pieces in front of the headlights, something like this:
The blue uprights would appear to be a continuation of the vertical pieces in the bumper and come out of the top of the bumper behind them (as well perhaps as tieing into the "pockets" in the front of the lower piece of the nose)
The red crosspieces would tie them together and frame the international logo.

Or are you saying that you want to protect the whole grill? If so, I think it looks the cleanest if the grill/headlight guard starts behind the leading edge of the bumper so that if you hit something vertical, the bumper takes the hit first, that will be hard to do in this case with how little space there is out at the ends.

Perhaps a grill guard like this (but without the 3rd bar in the middle):

But with the center section mounted on your bumper like this one is: Buckstop® - Classic I™ Full Width Front Winch HD Bumper with Grille Guard

Or something like this (but with the center uprights more vertical), that would also help protect the corners from a minor hit: FullGuard

Then, this style might look good as well: Front winch bumper Full Size Wagoneer, Chiefs J Series Trucks: Blue Lake Off-Road

Or one like this:

I mean, I like how it all appears now :flipoff2:

Don't want to block the grill. May switch to a "razor blades" grill.

So it's cold and snowing out? Let's (me and my son) build some -AN10 lines and a stainless mount and mount the oil filters, right next to the fuel filters... so you can build a skid, although they won't hang lower than the bed.

One bite at a time.

That's just crazy, having both those filters together like that. It's almost like you have done oil changes before on vehicles. Definitely not an engineer who takes it as a personal challenge to make the filters as hard as possible to get too for servicing.

Lol... and they're not right against the down pipe, where you have to drop the down pipe to change the oil filter, or like my 2015 Sierra, drop the entire fender liner to do the fuel filter.

another vote no grill guard, and just don't hit a damn moose :flipoff2:

gotta ask - all said and done, any regrets spending a big chunk of money on a hunk of steel you chopped the shit out of? You've got the skills and tools, it was still easier than making a bumper from scratch?

Eh I couldn't use it on anything else.

Yes, probably easier to build it from scratch, but I didn't know what I wanted. So it was a process.

I also didn't pay that much for it, it was a left over.

Totally get your point though.

So one thing I dislike is rusty exhaust.

So we whipped up some T304 manifolds with bungs for the EGT, right at cal 7, the hottest one. Yes, can switch the Dakotas to see which side is hotter.

do you do a final flattening of some sort on the flanges after all the welding? those look nice :smokin:

hear ya on the bumper, figured it was a "it might work" turned into "this thing needs hacked to look right, lets do it".

yeah, we will machine them flat, but they're .5" plate, so not much needed.

Exactly... it was: "This will take a little bit of hackery to get it on... then became fuckme it doesn't look right, and it's cut so I can't put in on something else.. might as well fuck it all the way through."

So, it's cold out and the fucking thing doesn't fit in the garage at home?

Let's do -10AN fuel plumbing in the driveway... hey Son, keep the snow off it.

RoosterBooster would be horrified. :flipoff2:

Continuing in the beautiful damp, 45 degree weather... mounted RydelFab's LED light units, the bumper shackle hangers, made a front license plate mount and fixed most of the bed. Mounted the roll cage to 3/8" thick mounts that tie into the frame.
It's only 1/8" thick tubing, but will be enough.

I am designing the rear bumper and will mount a crane to it. Dethmachinefab offered it back to me.
