UNITED to place travelers refusing to wear a mask on a (temporary) No-fly List starting June 18 for a “duration of time to be determined,” according to the airline...
Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines are also reinforcing their mask policies.

Great news!

So one of our guys flew out west last week, he simply had a bag of M&M's with him, whenever someone would walk by or look at him he'd simply pop one in his mouth. Gotta have your mask off to eat...

The same works with coffee. If you just walk around with a mug in your hand, you're immune to C19 and don't have to wear a mask.

Anyone who knowingly chooses United deserves to get fucked over and treated like cattle. They're the worst of the major carriers hands down.

Not true if you fly enough to have status. I fly then almost exclusively, by choice. Much better lounges and perks than delta. Screw not getting your upgrades at booking. If you are a peasant then yes, united blows :flipoff2::lmao:

Well your status will not prevent them from cancelling the flight of their old-ass plane if they don't feel there's enough butts in seats. I flew from Calgary Canukistan, to Cleveland and supposedly home to Las Vegas. Nope, they cancelled that flight so I had to fly to Philly, THEN to Las Vegas. Fuck them. American, Virgin, Alaska have all treated me better.

every airline cancels flights.

I fly a good amount and use United almost exclusively. they are pretty good overall. The only downside to United is that so many people fly them that Gold level status still doesn't get you upgrades many times. i do about 50 flights a year and i'm very rarely delayed or cancelled for something other than legit weather issues. and airlines like Alaska don't fly many places globally and even domestically honestly. Delta is slightly better, but they are about 20% more expensive than United.

You got a hard on for masks here like Linkslide has for Fox....🙄

United has one of the youngest fleets of aircraft of the majors.

What the fuck kind of routing was that? You trying to save $5 so you picked the longest least direct flight possible?

Flying Delta isn't what it used to be, status wise. Gold used to get you upgrades to first continental. Platinum was giving out so many points 4 free tickets a year to EU and back was certainly possible. Also upgrades to first.

Now you don't really get anything, upgrade wise. There are always people in front of me in the list... And you can't bribe or pretty eye nobody anymore, all the computer stuff broke that.

If it keeps a covid carrier from spreading it, I suppose it would.

that's only accurate if three things are true:
1 - the person is infected
2 - the mask stops transmission (i.e. it's pores are small enough to prevent spread)
3 - the person is otherwise sterile.

The pores don't have to be microscopic because the virus is contained in droplets which surgical masks are really great at catching, by design. Since the incubation time is at least 8 days, you can go a long time spreading this thing without knowing you have it.

that's opinion... the "facts" continue to change.

But again, if YOU are wearing a mask and following whatever appropriate protocols you believe work, and someone else chooses to not wear a mask, how does that impact you in any way?

I love how Delta and United have 37 different tiers of boarding before you even get to zone 1. I really don't miss traveling for a living.

I used to work for United and I recently flew on delta and holy fuck you are right. I thought United was bad with boarding groups, delta takes it to a new level! I agree traveling for work is hell and one of the multiple reasons I finally quit that job.

As for a company banning you if you dont follow their protocols, good for them. Dont like it, dont give them business.

Yay for airport fashion. My employer is mandating masks, my primary airline is mandating masks, my home airport is mandating masks... It is what it is.

but as far as worst airline, American probably takes the cake. They absolutely cannot stay on time anywhere. you fly early morning 6 am flight, you may be ok. if your flight is scheduled to leave at 6 pm, its going to be 7 or 8 pm.

No it doesn't. Only Allegiant and Delta have an older fleet. https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/07/03/average-fleet-age-of-the-10-major-us-airlines.aspx

I was doing a gig in Banff, then Cleveland, so was trying to fly out of there, because I had another gig in Vegas the following day, and the only option United gave me was to do the fucking flight to Philly first. Again, fuck them.

spirit has the youngest fleet IIRC, followed by frontier?

Ahh I was going to say that was one fucked up routing. Fuck Cleveland as well.

I flew for a living in the early 90s and then again in 04/05.

Delta fkg sucks hard. American sucks just as bad. Southwest brings it, for me.

How sweet. Stating what SURGICAL masks do, by design.

But that's not what we're being told to wear now, is it?

quoted for posterity...:flipoff2:

so then why GAF if someone else wears a mask?

I knew you'd jump on this. In your world of "fuck all other Americans, except the ones I personally know and like", I get that you don't get it.

Lets put out a number. How effective are bandanas and other cloth / cotton masks?

00%?
10%?
35%?
50%?
...
70%?
