At my grandfather's funeral in 2015, I spoke at the ceremony. I opened with "[Grandpa] always said the Obama administration would be the death of him. I guess he was right."
Fucking slayed it. Tons of laughs. But high-fiving his urn "went too far".

That sucks. Sorry for your loss. My uncle went out in a similar way when he was in his 80s. He left from a restaurant up in the mountains after riding with my other uncle and a friend and somewhere up in the mountains he wrecked and died. Definitely better to go out that way than sitting on the couch watching TV.

Death isn't funny, how you handle it and put humor into it will help others. I went a friends fathers funeral in January, He had prepared a speech that had the entire audience incapacitated with laughter. Hell, I just rewatched it because of how good of public speaker he is.

BUT this hit's different when the man was "killed", sitting here typing this I would feel differently if he took a curve too fast and ended himself.
Someone's negligence shouldn't end your life (bold thought I know).
They shouldn't. Accidents happen. Go to a 3rd world country and count the daily motorcycle deaths down there. People die everyday, You can be hit by lighting, brain aneurysm, pick your poison, any day, any minute, any second of everyday. I'm not faulting the old woman, she's gotta deal with taking someone's life for the rest of hers. Deer, Trees, Cars, Trucks, Pavement don't care about you and it's a shame, but I don't have the correct answer to fix it.
A good friend of mine was killed when a postal van made an Illegal uturn on a 4 lane road to loop back on their route. We had a memorial ride for him because that's what he would have wanted. He wouldn't have wanted to press charges on someone since that was the kind of person he was.

I hope you don't think I think his death is funny. We chatted on sunday morning, we both left for a ride (we are 300 miles apart) and only one of us made it home. My bike was still outside cooling off when I got the call. He was out for a cruise, and I was ripping my supermoto like a fucking asshole. I drive a shit box pontiac with no passing power, so when I get on my bike, I let it eat. Just based on how we rode, I should have been the one dead. 3rd gear power wheelies to 80mph, blasting around the country at speeds over 110, just generally being an asshole on the bike. It was a blast. It hit me like a mack truck when I learned about his death. He was one of the main reasons I got into riding.
I know him, and I know the group he hung around. They are going to appreciate a little dark humour. It is a dark enough time for them, a little laughter won't hurt anyone.
