Has anyone slid some UHMW tube over their links?

McMaster sells a bunch of sizes and thicknesses

Could be the new rage.
This would help with soft aluminum links sticking to rocks. The tube could also rotate to help roll off as well as sliding.
Might be cheaper if able to source natural gas line sizes that would fit.

I ordered some uhmw 'tube' to make some bushings.

It was so out of round, it was easier to cut it from solid stock.

Uhmw is better suited for larger surface areas.

It might help a bit on light rigs, but I bet most times it will gouge in just as bad or worse than steel or 7075.

The last rc rock crawler I bought like 10 years ago was a axial xr10 and it had little plastic skids for the aluminum links.

this is a pretty cool idea, i do like the idea it may roll. but my issue has just been the omg i just slid off that ledge and landed on the middle of my link, thus it bends.

Aluminum absorbs hits well. Hardened chromo links just make you laugh when you slam em. When thinking of ‘upgrades’ I’m always conscious of weight and kiss.
