Feel like the answer to this question is going to be “go for it”, but want to double check. I got my cab on and have little clearance between the turbo housing and the firewall when rotated in the position I’d like it to be in. There is a block on the housing that the company put its tag on. On the inside of the housing where the block is, it doesn’t appear to buldge out like the block does. It’s smooth for airflow, which makes sense.

Pic on the left is the position I want the housing.
Pic on the right is what the clearance could be. Just over 1/2”.

Is it safe to grind the corner of this block down/off?

Can't you clock the compressor housing however you want?

How does the compressor attach to the center cartridge?

Yes, I can rotate it 360*, but I want it pointing up so the pressurized air is going towards the intake manifold. It's rotated in the pic, I just want more clearance when rotated.

Gotcha.

I wouldn't think twice about knocking that block down. Just don't make it any thinner than the non blocked part.

Can confirm, I've done that mod to make turbos fit in my truck. Grind the tag boss off so it's flush with the rest of the housing.

For that matter, if it's new the cast aluminum is fairly easy to weld. Fill in the wastegate reference hole, reposition the vband, whatever you want.
