Tube fabbers step in

Damn you've been busy:beer:

I think when it comes time to do the in cab cage, you could easily add the side wings that mobil1syn has in his CAD drawings. That would allow you to tie into the B-pillar around the harness bar height. You're going to want to get out to the width of the B when the time comes anyway.

mobil1syn.....left over well pipe....that hurt.:flipoff2: It's drill string.

Thank you!

I was thinking the same thing about the cab cage tie in as well.

The only thing that offended me about the left over well pipe was that he didn't call it sprinkler pipe:flipoff2:i have literal tons of that left over:lmao:

Read everything mobil1syn says twice, because the man knows his shit. In his defense, I don't think he grasped exactly what you were wanting right out of the gate.

That said, I don't think anyone realized you had the bender already running when you made the first post.:flipoff2:

I have taken everything he said knowing that i wished i would've asked earlier... his designs are pretty bad ass, and would've fit my build pretty well. My biggest concern now is my shocks eating rocks all day from the tires.

Yes it was a pretty quick transition from nothing into what i have now. I taped out the wings he suggested and they look damn good IMO so i may pony up for 3 more sticks of tube and get after it building the B pillar outside of the cab to tie them into. First i would need to get the rock sliders in place for a mount point for that... next time I'll try to give it a week before i intend on getting to work:laughing:

i dont know anything, just a guy who spends too much time on the internet. as one KOH king told a buddy … hes just an internet tough guy, not a fan.

the amount of kits and pictures of the gmt-900 on the net is abundant, so my idea wasnt ground breaking.

you got a fire pipe company, would only seem fitting you used it. now if your started using firelocks it would be a little much.

I looked briefly on the web but nothing i was looking like it was going to be what i wanted in the end. But i was not looking at in bed cages because i was stuck on the idea of keeping it... now that I'm past that the options are endless.

I would've liked to use some Fire pipe, but it isn't dom and i wasn't secure in letting it be my second frame. So here i am second guessing what i have, but not willing to tear it apart and start over. I'll make it work, and the look is growing on me. I think if i incorporated your idea into my build, i can make it look good and gain the storage i need. Just need to add the B pillar and get the rock sliders on to get where i need to be.
Thanks for your help. I do appreciate it, and really do wish i would have asked at least a week earlier so i could mull it over to get where i wanted to be.
Thanks for everyone who had input. You guys are all great and this is why i love this place:beer::beer::beer:

Got some tape work done. I will put a B pillar behind the cab mounted to the rock sliders.
Which way would you go on the rear? I have one configuration in mind where instead of having a bend in the bottom to attach to the frame, it will just angle to the frame from the top tube...i will tape it up tonight to see what it looks like.

That looks slick.

Where I did the yellow circle, is that to tie into sliders or something?

For where the C-pillar runs into the frame, I'd try to get it to run down at an angle. That will turn some of the bending force into compression. Are you planing on the C-pillar being inside or outside the cab?

Yes the yellow circle is the tie in point to the sliders. I was calling it a B pillar, but yeah it's the C, and going to be outside the cab. Wasn't planning on tieing the C into the frame directly because the slider will be tied into the frame there, but one more gusset will not hurt.

Last iteration... now to mull it over and decide which way to go. First instinct is this one puts the bent at the bottom out... but I'll look at then for a bit longer and see what changes

do you have a pic that would essentially be standing on the jack handle and looking down?

dont just add tube for the sake of adding tubing, make each tube serve a purpose. before getting too carried away, start laying out the essentials that will go back there. that will dictate where tubes go. also think about tire coverage, treps like throwing rocks and that back window is a prime recipient of one.
