Slowly been putting this together. Full hydraulic tube bender project. Will use hossfeld dies. Most parts are from northern tool and surplus center. Here is the hpu and spool valve I will be using.

I think I ended up getting the ram from Amazon but it may have been surplus center. It is a 2.5 x 36

Are you building a hossfield copy? I need to build the hydraulic set up for mine.

Here are the drawings I found to draw the arms in cad. Checked the mesurements with a hossfeld original we have at work.

Yeah but different than what they sell. The hydro kit they make works but it's kind of a odd setup if you ask me.

Ordered a caster kit and a bunch of fittings from surplus center. Got some 2 x120 wall square tube for the main frame. And cut the top drawing picture above out of 1/2 inch plate. And got to work. Used the square to set the 5 1/2 distance between the main frame arms. Built a mounting plate for spool valve, mount for hpu and on /off switch. Thought I had pictures of earlier in the build but can't find them.

Took my best guess for the ram location. The ram doesn't have the spacers in the picture that's why it is leaning.

Added some paint. Ordered some pre-made hoses from surplus center. Installed the spool valve, pump and wired everything. This is where it sat for awhile as the plasma table at work took a shit and with covid they wouldn't let anyone come fix it for awhile.

So loaded some tube I had laying around just to make sure it was gonna work right. Should be able to get past 90 degrees on the first arm holes and then 180 on the second arm. As you can see I'm a little short. Looking at the first picture I have about 5 inches of ram out before the die is ready to start bending. Looks like I'm gonna move the rear ram mount forward about 3 inches, that should give me plenty of stroke.

Way cool. We just fired our burn table today and ran the break in file.

I'm interested in building a bender like yours. Interested in selling me a set of plans/dxf files ect. of your build?

I have no problem sharing. That's why I did a build thread in case someone was interested in doing the same. PM me your email and I'll send them to you.

Turned down some 1 inch bolts to 3/4 on one end and drilled and taped them for a 3/8 bolt.

I won't probably ever use the first 2 holes. I think the 3/4 die uses the 3rd hole and that's probably the smallest ill ever buy.

added this angle finder so I can bend to a degree. Can do 110 degrees on the first arm holes and no problem getting 180 on the second set

A guy I worked for had a bender that used Hossfeld dies. I have been looking for this type of info. I currently own a Hossfeld bender, but am not dumb enough to buy their fancy ass version. I just need something that will bend my tubing and retract. I don’t need a safety foot pedal or limit switch. Thank you for your knowledge. I have one question. How did you figure the stroke length?
