Big shocker here, but It sounds like he screwed himself by not knowing how to shut up. You don't need anyone to lie about things if you admit them on tape... :homer:

Would this be happening if it was Obama? No, but that doesn't mean Trump wasn't in the wrong.

I'm curious how the legal argument will play out. If the president truly has the power to declassify on a whim, how can they prove he didn't declassify things while president? "I was lying on that recording. I had declassified that material while president". Then he would only be guilty of not following correct protocol.

1. There's a paper trail he had to follow that wasn't. Ergo it wasn't/cant be declassified on his mental thought process/whim/say so. Funny part of this was the protocol has been around long before tRump and strengthened by Obama.
2. More importantly, No protocol for pres to declassify nuclear defense items...which he had. So no protocol including "thinking about it".

What is the process for the president to declassify something? What exactly does the paper trail look like?


If the president has the highest authority to declassify anything, does that not include nuke/defense items? If not the president, then who has such authority and what is the protocol for declassifying it?

Nobody is arguing that he can or can't declassify whatever WHILE he is the president. He is admitting ON TAPE that he didn't, he is holding onto them, and is showing them to people that don't have a clearance.

So again, what is the case being made that showing classified docs to someone without cleanence A) didn't happen B) is okay by whatever powers he has as the ex-president

Hmmmm......like I said recently, IF the reports are true and Trump admitted the doc were not declassified by him (but he should have) and then goes on to show them to people who don't hold clearance to see them uhmmmmmmmmmmm yeah, the conclusion is made that he is fucked.

If trump did what they say and is guilty then he has to face punishment. When this case is done then I want them to move to the next person who had classified documents and they be held to the same standards. Pence had them and biden had decades of documents in multiple places. Clinton had recordings of military briefings (It was some kind of military briefing) that were in his sock drawer.

If what they are charging trump with and the way they are investigating it is the new standard it must be applied to everyone.

Its not "But they did it" It's past presidents (Clinton, Bush, Obama) did it, that's how its always been done, there is federal court precedent saying that the way they did it was fine, and if anything came of it, it was a small fine, nothing more.

VP Biden, Hillary, and Pence don't have a leg to stand on, they never had the Authority to do what they did and should of all been prosecuted for it. Its not what aboutism, its fair application of the law with far more evidence than they are presenting in this case. Far too many people are TDSing way to much to see that.

The FBI slow walked Biden Bribery docs until the day this happened, that was not an amazing coincidence. Biden needs the distraction right now.


Also Trump is going to walk after a hilariously bad prosecution attempt.... again as history repeats itself.

Are you just talking about taking records and having them or showing them to people not cleared to see them?

Theses are two different things. On the first, I totally agree with you. Full Stop. One the second, not sure of any evidence. Regardless though, Trump is apparently on audio saying he did. Hence, why he is fucked.

I don’t believe trump had Anything that wasn’t his right to have as a former president. Excuse me if I also don’t believe we the public will ever hear that audio and if we do, it will have completely different context than what we’ve been told. We are to take prosecution’s word for now.
