August 1, 2023 Trump indicted in special counsel's 2020 election interference probe

Former President Donald Trump has been indicted by a federal grand jury in special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election leading up to the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday described the insurrection on January 6, 2021, as an “unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy" that was “fueled by lies” told by the former president.

He encouraged Americans to read the entire document.

"It was fueled by lies," Smith said, referring to the insurrection. "Lies by the defendant, targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the US government — the nation's process of collecting, counting and certifying the results of the presidential election."

Trump was indicted on four counts in Smith’s investigation into the aftermath of the 2020 election. The indictment also includes mention of six unnamed and unindicted co-conspirators.

Smith also indicted the former president at the beginning of June in a separate special counsel investigation regarding classified documents to which Trump pleaded not guilty.

You have to admit, Jan. 6th was a brilliant psy-op. Distract from the stolen election by staging a fake "insurrection", paint conservatives and Trump supporters as terrorists, then blame it all on the GOP front-runner leading up to 2024 and indict him. These are the lengths they have to go to when they can't run on policy or results. And the media will continue covering for it all.

He could run for pres from jail.

Constitution is thin ice, as there is nothing in it or in accompanying documents about actually then BEING president from jail.

People believe in UFOs. Not just that aliens exist, but that the US government is reverse engineering them somewhere, a la men in black. The only thing I believe in anymore is complete, uniform extinction of common sense and critical thinking in America. I heard a good quote once-- logic in, logic out.

If someone didn't use logic to arrive at a conclusion, logic won't steer them away from it.

And, quicker than I anticipated, we have a presidential candidate seemingly too old to function, another who thinks Covid is designed to spare Jews, another supporting the idea that slavery was beneficial, and another facing a series of criminal complaints.

Here I was thinking it couldn't get dumber that Sarah Palin. Not only did we hit bedrock, we drill baby drilled through it. :grinpimp:
 
Fine by me. Now indict Biden for all his Ukraine and China fuckery. Indict at least half of Congress for insider training. Let's drain the swamp for real.

Because they have invested everything they have in discrediting him leading them to believe they can repeat 2020. You need to ask yourself why you wouldn't do everything in your power to not let them get away with it even if it meant voting for someone that tweets mean stuff.
Once they are allowed to repeat 2020 that's it, game over. Unfortunately for the Trump haters he has proven to be the only one running that has the balls to put up a fight. Of course when he does the msm and social media convince you that his defense is completely uncalled for and unreasonable. Congrats they own you.
 
They know Biden can't win. They need to run against someone who will motivate voters to show up to vote against him. That candidate is Donald Trump. A random run of the mill middle of the road Republican would run roughshod over Joe Biden in a general election. But the GOP base is basically a cult of personality at this point. They love Donald Trump.
