It's a sks.I saw "AK style with scope" and 400 yards and mentally went PSL/Dragunov, haven't seen detail enough from pics to know if that's correct.

if it's got a bunana clip it's an AK.It's a sks.
I still haven’t seen anything saying the shooter had fired yet. So, it totally could be that he was waiting on Trump to get within the 150yds that you would actually take an SKS shot with.
Thank you, excellent info.Trump wasn't near the shooter....yet. SS was 1 hole ahead to clear the site for this exact reason, notice him and the riffle barrel in the bushes and shot at him.
Trump was on hole 5. If the 2nd pic is accurate, shooter was near the hole on 6. Seems like closer to the tee box on 6 would have been a better choice to get closer.
Read that it was NOT ss but his own security who saw it?Trump wasn't near the shooter....yet. SS was 1 hole ahead to clear the site for this exact reason, notice him and the riffle barrel in the bushes and shot at him.

16" would hit Trump, dudes gotta be 40" waist, not every shot is a head shot.An AK has roughly the power of a 30-30. A 400 yard shot on a deer with a 30-30 would be at or beyond the ethical range for that cartridge, and being that an AK is a 4MOA rifle, at 400 yards that's +/- 16" from point of aim. I'm sure DJT is more than 32" wide, but still a poor choice. At 400 yards a 7.62 x 39 is going to drop 63" and will only be going about 1200fps with 400 lbs of energy remaining, about what you'd get from a lung blower 9mm at close range. And Fiddy Cent took 9 of those and didn't die. Again, a very poor choice for an assassin.
This Sherriff should have known better.
"Law enforcement said they did not know if the suspect had fired a shot Sunday, but that he had an “AK-style” rifle with a scope and was about 400 yards from the former president. “With a rifle and a scope like that, that’s not a long distance,” said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw."
According to secret service, it was the secret serviceRead that it was NOT ss but his own security who saw it?
I'd bet there are a bunch of these wacko's around, and plenty of feds online pushing them to take that shot. They don't need a super assassin that can be traced, just a bunch of nuts and eventually one gets through.
And they are super trustworthy.According to secret service, it was the secret service
Or he was anticipating him being real close on 6 and got seen early. 400yds is a big gamble when you have 1 shot and a 99.9% chance of being killed after taking it.Trump wasn't near the shooter....yet. SS was 1 hole ahead to clear the site for this exact reason, notice him and the riffle barrel in the bushes and shot at him.

PSL/Dragunov
4 MOA in best of conditions, SS saw a barrel poking out of bushes, so maybe kneeling, maybe bending over, maybe prone,. And 40"?16" would hit Trump, dudes gotta be 40" waist, not every shot is a head shot.
400 yards and a 4 moa rifle with, let's say, a fixed 4x optic is well in the realm of doable for many people.
I agree it's a poor choice, fortunately most of the attention seeking political stuntmen make poor choices
He's wide, that's all I know4 MOA in best of conditions, SS saw a barrel poking out of bushes, so maybe kneeling, maybe bending over, maybe prone,. And 40"?
So it turns out it was an SKS, so a slightly better choice.
Man... They didn't call it an AR, that's a win right there.if it's got a bunana clip it's an AK.
Looks like maybe a Norinco SKS in a monte carlo stock but I guess it could be some kind of Saiga?
Norinco Sks Chinese Sks With Combat Exchange Monte Carlo Stock, Bipod, And 20 Round Magazine 7.62x39
Here we have for sale a Chinese Norinco SKS I picked up years ago at a gun show, pre-Clinton. Here's everything that I can think of about the rifle: Triggerwww.gunauction.com
They can and will but we will never know.So it’s reported on the radio the assassin ground the set # off of the firearm he had. Wonder if they can retrieve it?
Convicted of an automatic weapon and no timed served? Good lawyer and first timer?
If it is a SKS, rifle with the chrome barrel, it is accurate. Then if it did have a banana magazine, it is modified to accept that. So, no bumpstock? Lol
