Bump stops continued. The inside hole is tapped.
About 3.5” of travel before the bumps hit. The bumps compress another 1/2” (3/4” under a hard hit) after that. These are factory rear bumps from this model year truck.

Added a leaf to the front pack and that made it sit barely not flat at RH with an empty service body and no fuel weight.
Finally took out the jack strands, quite a bit of metal crap under there.

The front x-member, spring sliders, and axle brackets are all just tacked until I can get the service body back on and mimic the real world weight of this thing with fuel, tools, spare parts, and all that other junk we carry around in trucks. Took the box off so I can continue on the back half of the chassis and do some work in the service box.

Cut a big hole for the fuel tank.
Built a little box using 2x4x.120.
Welded to the floor, bulkhead, and walls.
Added a mounting flange and a couple tie downs.
Then made a cover, also 1/8”. It’s not done here but basically looks like that.

When I shortened the body previously the second cross member was brought forward. I connected that with the bulkhead x-member by adding a piece of 3/16” to the bottom for the front body mount.
Like so.
Added this angle.
Made a plate to box it further.
Welded.

Thanks man! The new shop is a dream come true, super helpful and it’s not even really set up yet. It’s 40x60x14 with one bay door and one man door which I like because that’s all I need and I can place things all along the walls where there’s no doors. The best part is that it’s only about a 45 second walk to my front door so when I work until midnight I can be in bed by 10 after
Last year I neglected this truck to work on the Datsun and I almost did it again this year with the new shop. There is still a ton of organizing and tools, benches, lofts, etc, I need to build but I want to get more done on the truck first. Basically I need to catch up with my budget on the truck or finish it before I allow myself to work on other projects.
I did pull a donor vehicle in earlier today to rob some leaf springs from. It will also donate the body panels to TrashE and then the 360, auto trans, and rear axle will go to another project I’ve been slowly working towards for a few years now.
And I planted a palm tree out front.
Based on the welds, I have a lot of suspicion the OP looks like this:

That machine might need some serious calibrating if it’s producing welds like mine

BTW, what did you use to clean the weld up ? Just a grinding wheel and some talent ?
I cleaned it up with a 4.5 inch angle grinder and about a 3 inch cut off wheel. I guess the talent part comes with years of grinding welds
You gonna fix the undercut too or just leave it there.
That’s not undercut it’s underfil and it’s acceptable, even under your csi level enhancing

Almost forgot the trailer plug.
I happened to have a new ford bracket and 7/4 pin combo plug handy. Modified it a little bit by cutting it down and adding a side plate.
Welded it together.
Then found a spot to put it and welded it to the truck.
Painted and started assembling stuff, it’s starting to get busy back here.

Awesome.
Welded the exhaust and installed.
Threw a heat shield underneath the fuel tank mount where the exhaust runs.Stole it from the same F350 I took the shock towers from.
Left some room for the pipe to move around.
And some room for airflow between the heat shield and chassis.
