I have a 1994 Chevy S10 with the Getrag HM290 trans. Its probably on its last leg due to age and running without oil.
Local FB marketplace shows a NV3500 for sale out of a Chevy truck. Im am unsure if a NV3500 is a NV3500, or if they have any specific differences I need to look at/measure.
My truck is the 4.3l, 4x4.
The thought is to buy this trans if it will work and go through it. That way, I still have a truck to drive until I swap it in.
My current trans works now, not factory fresh but it will go through the gears. It has a leak, unbeknown to me and was ran a little with pretty much zero oil. I thought the throwout bearing was toast. I bought the truck as a beater a few months back, havent driven it much.
Either way, Im sure the trans is hating life right now
