Thinking about building a rear one for one or both of my YJs.

My only issue with it is adapting a parking brake of some sort.

Has anyone added one to theirs?

Use 8.8 outers and the entire brake setup off a rear disc Explorer if going with a semi float axle. For full float im sure you could use something already existing like a setup off a FF 14 bolt or similar.

They use the Super Duty unit bearings so that technically makes it full float.

Then I'd probably try and use a SD rear brake/Ebrake setup. If you use the SD metric lug pattern it should be a bolt/weld on deal. If not, you will have to get the rotors redrilled.

Biggest obstacle to overcome is the 8 lug rotors are always vented. Is there a way to convert down to 6 or 5 lug so you can run a solid rotor in the rear? That way you could use a 2012ish Ford Edge parking brake caliper

The plan is to keep it 5x5.5. I should have mentioned that sooner. The plan is to purchase redrilled unit bearings from Branik or another source.

I am using the Ford Edge calipers on my Willys build. You could purchase Sidekick rotors (they JUST work) or simply redrill the Edge rotors to 5x5.5. I ended up finding Toyota pick up rotors from an 80s 4x4 front but wish I could have gone newer to make sure my parts would be available.

ive seen currie stuff that reuses all the jk components to keep the ebrake, might be worth checking out

I believe I am running Sidekick or Samurai rotors on my CJ7 with 300ZX parking brake calipers to keep the 5x5.5 pattern.

It's been like 10 years since I've thought about it.

here you can see the mechanical parking brake actuator arm and solid rotor setup on the AMC 20

So get a rear disc setup off a '99+ E150.

There's no reason to fuck around with line locks and adapting stupid shit when there's an off the shelf setup for exactly what your doing.
