I have a 1994 Explorer with a solid axle out of a 1976 F150. It's got Duff long travel radius arms and 14" coil overs. The upper track bar rod end is failing. I essentially need to do a trail repair because I'm camping with limited tools. Will locked steering keep the suspension from collapsing while I pull the track bar?

I have here a floor jack, some wood, ratchet straps, a couple impacts and lots of hand tools.

Thanks

if you have a second person ive actually used the steering to line the holes back up to get the bolt in by having someone turn the steering wheel, as well as a ratchet strap when alone

not sure what you mean by collapsing though

You should only need a couple hand tools and the rachet strap.

You could criss cross/ x 2 straps if its crazy floppy and youre worried about tipping off vertical

I was overthinking it, which is my nature. I partially supported the body with a floor jack and High Lift. Bolt came right out, used the High Lift to raise the frame the little bit needed to start the bolt. Did not collapse, kill me, then somehow right itself, roll a mile down hill, only to casually come to a stop directly in front of a bus load of nuns, or much more likely here, a bus load of Japanese tourists heading to or from the Grand Canyon Skywalk killing all aboard, Including the uninsured illegal owner/operator.

Thanks, it was a simple fix after all.
