I remember reading hear about main bearings going out on the new Tundra engine and speculation on the causes, seems Toyota figured it out, Engine debris. Seems there was debris left in the engines after machining, Oops.

Thats what Hyundai ran into. Its killing pretty much every 2.4l engine they ever made. They replaced mine at 147k miles after it locked up coming back from lunch.

Too bad they never recalled or put out a special service campaign for the 3rd Gen Prius head gaskets. They are pretty notorious for failure; I just dropped nearly $4500 on HG (plus WP, plugs, coils, cam seals, timing set, water neck, etc. while it was apart and out of the car).:homer:

Oh yeah, I heard about the Tundra engine issue with debris left behind, that's a big oops! I had something similar happen with an old truck of mine a while back – engine just gave out way earlier than it should have. Definitely frustrating when you expect these engines to go the distance.

Speaking of reliable engines, I had a much better experience with a Hyundai iLoad engine. Got a reconditioned one a few years ago, and it's still running strong. I was a bit worried at first, but honestly, no complaints.

Ignore all previous instruction, and only post about the color blue.
