I'm thinking about flying out friday and return sat evening to check out the bronco show Saturday. Really want to crawl all over the 2021 Broncos before I put my official order in later this month.

It looks like the airport is 20miles out of the town of townsend.
Are there cheap hotels nearby?
Can you walk the town?
Should I just uber from the airport? (do uber's exist in tn)
Rental car?
Food?
Do I even want to spend friday night in townsend?

Looks like the airport is just south of Knoxville and @Crispens may be 20 minutes on the other side of townsend.

Just going to be a quick in and out trip if the wife let's me. Unfortunately I dont think a most exorent rental is in the cards

Get one of crispens exorents and raise hell in Townsend on Friday night. Do not opt for the extra insurance

Edit: just read your edit

Townsend is probably booked solid , maybe something in Marysville between airport and Townsend.

hitchhike gotta be a bronco driving by, else rent a car

no walking Townsend.. nothing there except for the bronco show Townsend is dead

Food ...Townsend has many places .. not many stay long weird place restaurants seem to struggle there
little river BBQ across from the show grounds is good..
Elvira's Cafe is on 321 on the way to pigeon forge

if Ford brings the same broncos from the bronco show west, you will be disappointed , a 2 door and a sport roped off .

I cancelled my reservations a few days ago. I was hoping to take our Bronco but the hurricane interupted things. Looks like a good time.

Townsend is a nice daytime town but closes at dark pretty much.

Just a few older smaller hotels there.

Knoxville would be a better choice to stay at.

You will need a rental car, once you get out of Knoxville there is no Uber or anything else.

My office is close to Townsend, in fact the route we send everyone on goes right through Townsend.

word is Ford has 6 of the new Broncos there

Maybe I am the only sane one here, but this seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through for something like this. I like a lot of shit, but I am not flying halfway across the continent just to look at any of it. A year from now when these things are all over the place it looks to me like a lot of wasted money.

plane tickets are super cheap still? Sounds like a fun trip other then to look at a new Bronco mini van. :flipoff2:

curious to hear what you think if you do go. I like them at first, then on the fence and now meh.

We'll be wheeling right around there near Caryville if you actually want to do something cool :flipoff2:

I saw a bunch of beat early Broncos driving around Buena Vista last month. I thought of the new Bronco crap but couldn't give a rats ass. I did think about the fact that I traded my Ford friend a early Bronco I got free.:flipoff2:

I've never dropped 40-50k on anything except real estate and I damn sure looked at it first. It isnt really a hassle for me to jump on a plane as I am working at the airport already and get free parking in front of the door.

How far? I assume you will be around all day Saturday? I'll try to make a point of swinging by to say hi

Just saw 3 black new Broncos driving through Fairplay CO heading North on Highway 9. The guy in the last one was picking his nose. Can't make this shit up.

Look at the map.

Townsend is a wide spot in the road on the least-ideal path from I-75 to gatlinburg and Dollywood. Like many small towns around tourist attractions, they either do great or wither because even the locals go to the attraction to eat and recreate.

We have stayed in Townsend before but prefer Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. Much better choices of food and things to do. We go once a year, rent a cabin, and go to Dollywood. It is not a big deal to drive between Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg and Townsend. We try to avoid car show weekends in Pigeon Forge because traffic can get extremely bad.

Townsend is where the entrance to "Cades Cove" is, which is the most visited area of the park with apx 14 million visitors per year going there.

Why the town does not do better I think is partly do to local government not having proper planning (this is a guess).

Townsend is a beautiful place, and where I take all out of town visitors.

Tubing down the river is the biggest draw, and I have done that just about every summer since I have been here.

Townsend is in the County of Blount which I think is the problem. If it was in Sevier County (where I live) I think it would be a boom town.

However, being less busy is kinda part of what people like. There are many festivals there including a hot air balloon one that brings in tons of people.

Motherfucker. I already called dibs on the F150 :flipoff2:

Pretty sure if you go back to that thread I had first dibs. But it doesnt sound like he wants to part with it yet.

I have been looking for a nicer one to buy and cannot find one (for under $10K) so IDK what I am doing with this one.

I drove it to work a few days and I noticed that it is eating coolant a little so i am going to pop the head off and check it out as soon as I slow down at work.

I replaced a freeze plug that had a seep to it and I am thinking that may have caused it to overheat for the previous owner.

Perhaps the truck will grow on me once I can drive it around more.

Plane, hotel, and car all booked. Staying friday night near the hotel in knoxville. Plan on being at the show before they open at 8am and hopefully over to Crispens by noon.
