Picked up a 2018 Colorado awhile back, 2WD with the 2.8 Duramax for my daily driver and light tow duties. I've got a 2002 Suburban 2500 for the heavier stuff.
So Tues night my son calls, his 89 MJ overheated and clutch slave cylinder blew coming home from NM outside Needles. AAA couldn't get any trucks to bring him back so I told him I would get him. Of course the burb doesn't start so I said screw it and would see how the Colorado did.
Trailer is about 2300lbs MJ estimate about 4000lbs ( lifted 35" tires full set of spares tools) so maybe 6300 total. Factory tow rating of the Colorado is 7700lbs.
Got him loaded and started back at 1 am and 95 degrees out. Overall did good, has the built in brake controller and exhaust brake. Trans temp never went above 200. Thankfully was mostly downhill. Maintained about 60 mph. Computer said 22mpg. No wind so no tail wagging.

Yea I know cool starry bra.

The end

I call bs on 22mpg towing but I know someone that has towed an XJ with a 3.6 Colorado and it did fine.

The 4door colorados remind me of dakotas. I wish they offered them with a big ass v8, Id probably get one
