Toterhome Build Dreams/Reality Check

Don't force it, sometimes the universe tells you something.

I do subscribe to this theory. And i'm going above and beyond to try to get this done, the easy button is go pick up a comparable model from a dealer and let it ride.

I just really love the idea of the truck being in the trailer and one rig to my big trips

Ya, I mean, if they don't fit, what's the point?

Yes and no right? It fits the truck, no other toy hauler is going to do that. It fits the can-am and other toys, just like the other regular ones will it just dont fit both.

That's a lot of money for something that doesn't solve your problem entirely.

A toterhome and a 2 car pumper pull sounds like the best solution to me.

Like this :

This is where my mind has been wandering for the last 2 weeks, class A pusher/toterhome and one of the 17 trailers i already own for whatever load fits that trip

105" Body and 102" door per the owner. I'm brining a tape obviously.

My momentum had a 102" body and a 98" door with a true 95" pass through.

So with some ass backwards math there should be 98" of pass through on a bad side if it was same construction.

102" is max legal width without permit in the US..... Not saying it's not possible for a manufacturer to say fuck the law, but that would be odd if it was that wide.

Ram charger has to be close to 100" looking at the Pic on the open trailer?

Does dune sport even make a trailer wider than 102"?

I tried looking on their sites but only saw a 8'6" option

edit:
Either complete mismeasurment or it's actually that wide.
Here is your chance to own a one off custom 46ft Dune Sport that was designed for comfort with the ability to haul all of your big toys, This rig will haul a two seater sxs along with a 120 inch wheelbase buggy on 43,s ( 24ft Garage ) . This custom toy hauler has two slides, two queen beds, fold out bed, large bathroom, custom kitchen with a double door refrigerator, microwave, tons of cabinets space etc. This toy hauler also come with pretty much every single option Dune Sport offers and some of the notable ones are, triple 7k axles, 7k rated ramp door, 105 wide box with a 102 wide rear door ( will fit full size buggy on tons) , 7000w Onan Generator, 30 Gallon tank for generator and a 40 gallon fuel tank for the toys, 400 watts of solar with controller, 2000 w inverter, 3 ac,s , Bigfoot hydraulic levelers, Gen-Y hitch and pin box ( 2k option ) Double auto 16ft awnings, and many other options I have not listed. This trailer has been stored under cover since new and it is ready to go. The trailer is easily pulled with a F-350 dually. This trailer was purchased with the plans of never selling but due to a tragedy in the family we are no longer able to use the trailer. Please email me with any questions.

Also you are probably hosed if you actually need 3' more length...

But it is possible to extend the trailers cargo length fairly easily by creating a "Spacer" to go between the ramp door and the trailer frame.
I have posted pictures here somewhere before but it was more like 12" not 36" of extension.

Another goog search shows this might have gotten more popular.

These mofos are waaayy nicer than what I was seeing before. DuneSport might actually build you one?

I think it's telling 75RamRunner to cut the back off RamRunner :lmao:

That said, understandable on unsettled feelings. I hadn't even considered the differences between a 120" buggy and fullsized rig.

Literally the first thing I did was look at where the rear C-pillar ties in to see about chopping her ass down. It ended at having to relocate the gas tank :lmao: Shes gotta stay a fat pig or i need to just build a buggy with her guts

Plenty of these flavors on the lots, 46' overall, 27' of "cargo" 4000ish of capacity. They're also 80-90k. I'm reaching budget at 70k, its just not in the cards for those. 2-3 year old Attitudes are in my price range but i keep hearing horror stories about nothing inside working.....

It sounds like from everything I read its actually that wide. They don't list 90% of what they can/will do. I'd love to build one but they're 12 months out and that just doesn't work for the family plans we have.

Also probably 100k+ outfitted as i want, so there's that......One day. :grinpimp:

It’s hard to imagine they built a trailer that would technically be a wide load everywhere it went.

says 105" sidewalls and 102" widebody......asked the owner one more time for confirming measurements of body and interior door dimensions

To echo, I don't see how the opening can be 102". That leaves 0" for wall thickness.

Other than that, if the garage dimensions and capacity work for you, and you have the money, buy it.

I was wondering how they would get the material for the front cap/roof if they were using standard RV supplies.

But in reality it's all possible given the "custom" price tag.

Really common to sell boats with illegal road width?

Don't those big wide boats need to be transported with special permits and wide load chase cars? Idk, never dipped my toes in that realm.

My enclosed goose is 102" wide at the exterior walls, so the opening is less than that. The sidewalls measure a little wider than 102 but I never understood why that was legal. I guess it's like sideview mirrors that are more than 102" wide?

For a ramp or barn door opening to be 102" wide the trailer body would have to be 104" or more wide without the tires. I don't see how that's posible, that a toyhauler is wider than a semi trailer.

Seen guys build ramps for the side by sides to get two on a shorter trailer. Maybe there's room to ramp the front of it up?

But yeah, anything over 8'6" wide is technically an oversized load, will they ever catch it? Doubt it.

I was thinking you could probably ramp the sxs up to jam it in there also, but man that sounds like a pain.

My idea was ramps for the rear of the SxS and front of the truck, possibly dismount the tires on the front of the SxS. I'm going to cross that bridge when i get there if i need to.

Not disagreeing with anyone's points made on the 102" wide legality. Pretty much every 5er ever requires a class A license to drive and we all know that doesn't happen either. Not that two wrongs make a right, but i have my Class A, i have wide load permit signage and can get one ways if needed (highly doubtful)

The truck is 96 1/2" OD, most standard toy hauler openings are 96", so the question really is with the trailer being custom built for a full size buggy did they do some magic at the door? I should have those measurements from the owner tonight. Roller tires are an option but fuck me i don't want to mount and unmount those 43s every trip:shaking:

I looked at a 2019 attitude yesterday and i just cant do a production line toyhauler again, theyre so cheaply made. They look great and they have the fit and finish one would expect, but they just don't last with the boondock camping we do 90% of the time at the least the ones in my budget don't. And a 100k+ one that will last is simply out of budget

No idea the legalititys but this boat came to mind.

Its a MasterCraft X-80 114" beam and IF it had rookie poles the trailer was even wider.
The trailer might not have technically been illegal with the out the poles, I didn't measure it.

A buddy had one and I did some stereo and engine work on it. Brought it over and I went to back it into my shop 10' door and I kept backing and pulling up and backing and pulling up, couldn't get the boat centered in the door. Get out and go measure the boat and yeah not gonna fit...

This was a boat designed to be trailered and used like a normal wakeboard family boat.

I have my class A also.

For the opening, my goose door is just wide enough to get my full width cruiser in with 42" TSLs on recentered H1s, so it's pretty wide. I can't find the measurements in my motel thread right now, but it fits.

Got Dune Sport on the phone, talked to Casey who was super helpful and had some more insight on the trailer as well as the floorplan for the build

IwUdDeG.jpg

The door opening is 96 1/4" I.D, the body is 102" O.D, the walls are 105" tall.
The trailer was built with 7k axles, after one trip it was swapped to 8k axles
Had a Lippert self leveling system, it was removed and a bigfoot self leveling was installed

We talked about some build quality concerns as well which he soothed, it sounds like in the last few years they've really turned out some decent product, i mentioned how there was so little reviews and he laughed and said it is a ongoing issue because no one really sells them, and typically the second buyer is the first review. There's a few floating around for sale on the interwebs but still.

I'm going to remeasure the O.D of the truck tires tonight with a little more detail than eyeball line up, its going to be tighter than a virgin's asshole but its so close i think its going to work. Rollers would 100% work.

These sticky mickeys are wide :homer: they on stazworks double beadlocks that are 17x10 with 4" B.S IIRC, standard chevy kingpin front axle.

Section width of a 43" tsl on 17s is 14.5" and the 43" mickey is 16.9" per summit:eek:

My other thought was just airing the piss out of the front tires to the 60-80psi range to gain that 1/2" i need in width by ballooning them to load

Well that answers some concerns I had.
I bet it's heavier than it was now not sure if that matters much.

Swapping tires and wheels would suck but make it possible but then where do you store the 4 giant tires/wheels?

What are your options for changing the wheel or tire setup to lose some girth? Less expensive than an even bigger trailer.

If your looking to change out the tires every trip anyhow are those wheels able to be flipped side to side just for loading? Not sure if it would be much of a difference but it would make the truck what like 3" narrower just for loading and unloading, then you dont have to bring rollers.

Well they're all pretty much brand new so ideally nothing :grinpimp:

TSL SX FTW :smokin:

Came from these on 17" racelines, i really had no complaints, tougher than shit and i abused them HARD. wanted to try the sticky mickey craze, so far they do live up to the hype

That is a super interesting option i had not even considered, i will need to look at that more closely! that very well could be the solution right there, i always bring a cordless impact anyways to a quick swap left to right after unload is really not a big deal

Also for clarity, the rear is 94" or something of that nature so I'm only talking about rollers on the front. honest if i took the rear seat out (quick disconnect mounted) i could probably fit both in the back of the Ramcharger.

If not they can go in the kitchen im sure the wife would love it:grinpimp:

See aforementioned kitchen comment :smokin:

I bet shes heavier than 15k too, my momentum was "13.8 dry" but for a trip was more like 18.

The dually is rated for 31k on the hitch and ive exceed that more than once:flipoff2:

If she lands around 25k with the truck and can-am in it i wouldn't be too surprised.

25k with 20% to the truck still doesn't land me in BDL territory, actually within all the rated limits on everything lol

If the only issue is length I think I would spend my time building an extension before I f***** with taking tires and wheels off every trip.

If it's with and there's no way around it besides modifying the RAM charger to a point it's not yours anymore then I might reconsider the whole damn thing.

It's a shitty spot but we've all been there.
