This torchmate 4x4 plasma table is for sale locally. Iv briefly used plasma tables in the past and would like to have one for hobby bullshit and tinkering.

Is this a decent deal? Outdated? Any information would help.

I have a TM 2x4 Growth series and they no longer offer parts for it. That machine, if it is a growth series may be in the same boat as mine.
If it has the X series drivers and controls then it may be still supported. For that money, you're halfway there to a JD2. Once my TM table is dead I am replacing it with anything but a TM and never buying anything Lincoln again. Just been a perpetual bad experience ranging from their use of my creations in marketing literature without mention to 180 degree flip flops on prices and agreements with upgrading rails and motors, to numerous other issues with parts and hardware.

I have had my TM for 10+ years now

I will say the company that I purchased from in the past is not the same company that is there today after the Lincoln merger

The helpful, always open tech line is now the take-advantage-of-the-situation line. I have essentially reversed engineered about every part on that thing. Because of the absolutely stupid amounts of mark up they are putting on off the shelf parts (Mcmaster-carr is your friend)

and I wouldn't buy that cutter, I never even heard of it

does that make this table not work? absolutely not, but I wouldn't give that price for it
good luck

Find out what control system. If it's the outdated avhc and blinky box, that's going to be a 5k+ update to accumove when it fails.

The system doesn't look like it's been used much. The unsupported parts makes me nervous, I'm not a caveman but software/computers slows me down.

That's the newer system, its better than the legacy stuff. I'd buy for 6500, but its not hooked up so you really don't know if it works.

I'm sure it works perfect, don't mind my next thread asking why it no worky.

Thanks for the help. Hopefully someone else buys it before payday and relives me of this poor decision

As much as you think it’s a poor move now a cnc plasma cutter is almost priceless once you have one. I could not live with out one. It takes a ton of work out of fabbing.
