Not exactly what I've been looking for however.. I was drawn to it for some reason... and 4 days later it followed me home.

1983 1/2 ton. 350 auto overdrive. Used as a ranch vehicle since mid 80's.. 96k on it.. rear air.. it works.. all parts that have been replaced. Napa stickers and part #'s.

It does need a lot of TLC.. rear barn doors need attention ... aircleaner belts. Tires are a little over a year old... starts and runs like it's only a few years old.. no need to pump or crank , bump key and its running..

At any rate I'm going to use as camping/ hunting/fishing vehicle..
:smokin: Wj's roof rack looks small on this thing.. 12k winch will be installed soon.:usa:

This will be a slow build update as we go thread. Has a one year old Napa Battery in it as well.need belts valve cover gaskets. Windshield wipers.
The heater / a/c bakelite black stuff on right side off engine bay has a hole needs repaired.

Lr window has brand new regulator o it however to get it up and down you have to unhook ground then it'll work...yet works just fine from front driver control either way... ideas anyone?

This This is beyond dusty inside and out... I've started cleaning its getting a real bath soon.

I'm retty sure there atleast one dent on every panel. No rust to speak of.

Front bumper and winch mount ideas running through my mind at present...

Sounds like a switch problem, I've solved a similar problem to this before but forgot what I did :homer:.

Transmission to transfercase. Found this n bottom 2 threads either gone or stripped .... top 2 aren't even the right bolts... and welll. You see in pic..

Since pic taken.. top two tightened up.. bottom 2 aren't as happy..

Ideas....

Helicoil.. re thread and use bigger if enough meat on transmission case...

Not scared of either just need a direction from some who have ran into this or similar problems.

Please problem solvers help me here..:smokin:

I've used helicoils in many different places with 💯 %success. So far will see on this one. Also not sure if these had the transfercase support or rod bar or not? I remember a couple on different chevrolet pickups I had way back.....

:smokin: thanks helicoil is where I'm headed.

Exhaust has a piece of tin wrapped with hose clamps on it as well love,en it!!!:smokin:

That may get the ol cawk.n.balls bandage with a mig welder....:flipoff2: idk yet. It will at some pint get exhaust.

Can ya just put nuts on the back side with lock washer?

i would run an ORD front winch bumper. Great ground clearance for a low rig.

Top side I could run bolt washer cobo.
Bottom ones. bottom out in transmission body itself..
I probably would otherwise .:smokin:

Still undecided here will take a look at ORD.:smokin:

What is wrong with the rear doors?
Missing the latch pieces on right hand door. Also lower hinge loose.. door skin is peeled back a weebit... thinking it was open and someone at one point in time backed door into something and did damage.. so latch stuff disappeared so they could shut door with ratchet strap..

Anyone have a clue what size the correct bolts are... gut a part store said wrench side should be 19mm..? Clueless it's been forever for me.. at any rate the tops ate 17mm now... and bottoms were 9/16"...

It's a possibility the bottom ones are just too small at present

Helicoil... is still an option.. for bottom holes

Anyone know the correct size bolt from tcase to transmisssion.... 8x1.25 ... sound right , I'm searching and trying here . Help please.

Helicoils went 💯 %:smokin:

Did it all while out in field camping over the weekend.

Rubber o ring seal has a slit in it and under pressure with load she sprays transmission fluid .. ordered new seal waiting on it to come in right now. Hitting the Walmart for food supplies and such . Then heading back out to camp and tear truck back apart and put new owing seal in tonite tomorrow.

Had to trash a bunch of pictures friqn lenses on phone/camera were greasy oily and pics sucked...

I did a step by step of the whole process even... :mad3:

My bad for not making sure lense were clean for picture time...

Wasn't really a slit more of a pinch to me.

I'm sure it been done that being said I'm thinking of removing the front bucket seats in suburban an moving the rear seat up front keeping passenger side folded and keeping Bonnie's dog bed it will serve as a wall in front of her.. and a bigger flat space for her bed.
She has a seat belt adapter that hooks to her Service dog Vest. And yes we use Said adapter . It works very well is adjustable. And has kept her from slamming dash or windshield wen we had shitbox Wj.... proven it works I'm sold on them and will se from now on.

What I'm getting at has anyone done this moved the seats.

I am no good at search. Have no clue what to put in ideas or help if someone has.
Regardless I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this

Had to re order air filter my bad for ordering the short one to begin with.
So right height air filter and new plug wires. 3 of old ones were arcing. one they had wrapped around distributor was no longer making it to plug.
Huge different in how it runs from then till now. And it didn't run bad to begin with fired right up when ya hit the key before now even smoother at start up. Even running cooler consistently now.
4row aluminum radiator in near future regardless.

Transmission wasn't the happiest after seal leaking deal. Ended up dumping two jug of Lucas transmission majik go fluid!!!!! It works 💪 2nd and drive were slipping drive doesn't at all now and 2nd barely at this point. Doing transmission fluid filter drain plug . Possibly next weekend.

Chasing down a pinch or rubbed wire for turnsignals now. New fuse and they work for three or four days then no more turn signals. However all other lights still work and are happy.

Have been to carwash several times to keep washing engine bay and undercarriage . In places over an inch of caked on dirt. I'm sure Its lost 500# of weight there alone.

Boss Bonnie supervising.while work being handled

Oil and filter , transmission fluid and filter change tomorrow . Lucas oil and transmission additive going in both engine and transmission.
Also removing the added in to eventually go bad fusible links going to starter while underneath I've already made up leads to do so. New positive cable down to starter also. Will add finished pictures tomorrow :smokin:

Factory tire carrier off of another van. One of the custom ones with the chrome ring around tire . At anyrate I'm leaning this direction for the Suburban. As I'm looking to make more room inside. Also like the other side shelf/carrier attachment. I'll be doing something along these lines as well.
