What's new

The unofficial "products you've bought that kick ass" thread

Just ordered these after seeing something similar in this thread. So many different versions, hopefully I didn't buy the shit brand

Anyone see them with type c on the charger end for "lightning" charging?
It won't work on the 2 wire models. USB-C requires several pins for that to happen and to deliver some of the higher wattages. If it doesnt see a negotiated level it will go down to the typically 5v and 1.5-2a

The multi-pin mag connectors I havent found to be partiuclarly good. All of them get thrown off by the tiniest speck of dust or wrong angle. If I need to fast charge my phone I just pull the mag connector out and use a good regular cable.

We went on a long trip recently and went through like 2 or 3 cords. Biggest thing is the kids dropping stuff with the charger in, hoping this helps with that.

In my house they were a life saver. Damn kids. I have this brand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092HFHN8Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the TOPK brand I bought a few years ago but are not available anymore. They are all fine. They all look the same to me. I have them all over the house now charging ipads, phones, kids tablets. My several rechargeable flashlights. I really like them. The newest ones with the extra swivel head are extra nice. But those I only have 3 months of use on.

Going to have to retract these from this thread imo.

The little butt plug attracts metal dust

It also doesn't fit a lot of things being round

The magnet is too weak so it falls off easy or shifts just enough that it's not charging

Slow as molasses charging. Was trying to use GPS today and it was going down faster than the charger was charging :homer:even with the screen off I think it went up maybe 5% in an hour..... switched to a regular cord in the same USB port and it was night and day

Basically no benefit

Original Keurig I've had for probably 15 years finally died a while back. Ended up replacing it with one of these.

Links to walmart, not sure why the link preview came out like that.

Was worried about the smaller reservoir size, but it's been fine. Biggest difference I really like with this thing is it doesn't have to heat up like the old one did so no wait for a cup in the morning.

Damn
I wish someone made those for laptops

I’ve lost two laptops because the dog snagged the cord and yanked the computer off the coffee table
Or ripped the charge plug completely off the board inside .

That is a legit reason for going apple. The magsafe connectors work well for that.

Megapro Made in USA screwdrivers. Pictured below is the locking version, but there's a ton of different types in the non-locking variety.

Double ended bits store in the handle.

When you gonna sell me that Willys?

chinese shit 70 dollar 25cc 12" bar chainsaw
just search "900w chainsaw" on aliexpress

good golly this thing is so handy, I expected it to die within a week but it's still trucking. I don't even give it the 25:1 it actually wants, I just drop a little bar oil in the fuel tank and fill it with the normal 40:1
Holy bargain, it was $7 marked down to $4 and with a $3 coupon I snagged it for $1.13 plus $6.56 shipping. Delivery end of January - we'll see I guess.

EDIT: WTF did I just order? A chainsaw or a picture of one? Aliexpress has this canvas/image size description under every item. First time using them. Ambiguous web design or scammy listings?

Link? I think I can waste $7 on maybe a chainsaw

I realize most here wouldn't spend a couple grand for a DAC and probably don't listen critically, but it's my thing and always has been to chase resolution in recorded music, all the way back to Jr Hi. Anyway I've had a bunch of different DAC's over the years and they have gotten progressively better, but this DAC3 HGC is by far the best one I've ever heard, and there are DAC's out there that are 10 and 20x the price of this one. I'm hearing stuff in recordings I've heard dozens if not hundreds of times before, that is new. I also got the matching amp.

I recently picked up the Harbor Freight 300lb Vulcan welder cart. I have inside track, because a box I needed in the fall was cheaper to join inside track and get the box. So right now it's a $90 cart, and is way better than my original cart. Even has a handy drawer for stashing away mig tips and spare shields and the like. The rollers are seem to be of good quality, and it has plenty of hooks for hanging cords.

Bahco adjustable wrenches that look like this one. The older ones were way cooler with "invented by Bahco" on one side and "made in Sweden" on the other. The new ones omit that writing and are made in Spain.

Best adjustable wrench I've ever used, and cheap price point (8 inch for about $25).

Astro Pneumatic 80SL worklight. Comes with a big fat battery, and a smaller 18650 battery and a charger that can charge both at the same time. On/off button for flashlight at the tip and a roller button for dimmable light from the long lightbar. Swivel mag base and super low profile metal hanging hook. It's really, really well thought out, as are all the products from Astro.

Astro Pneumatic tire inflator. Pull the trigger a little and it vents air, pull some more and it inflates. Accurate digital display is good because dial gauges aren't accurate over a wide span.

Also Astro's Nano impact sockets and pinless impact sockets.
