What's new

The TRACTOR thread

Are you going to build a shield for it to avoid a repeat?

Yeah, thinking 3/8" or 1/2" plate with some ribs welded by pan to prevent any flex. The way the loader frame is built I can use four square u bolts to hold it in place.

Nicely done! I’m sure it sucked crawling in and out of there 50 times but even if it seeps I bet it’ll hold oil long enough for a days labor

Thanks! Dirty work for sure, ruined a couple changes of clothes and may need a haircut to get the putty out of my hair.

Pretty sure earlier in this thread or another thread he was talking about how they are street tracks or something like that and not worn out, but actually made smooth so it doesn't tear up asphalt or concrete.
Lots of traxcavators came with non-grouser track pads because they weren't always pushing like a dozer, and yeah it's so you don't stir up your material yard or whatever.
know how when you use a skid steer for a few hours in dry dirt you end up with a couple feet of powdery dust? That sorta shit.

Dozer blade on a tractor. Anyone ever have experience using one in dirt?

We called them street pads. Had a friend who ran a finish cat with them. His finish was phenomenal. No grouser marks. :smokin:

We had one just like that on a tractor that we used for pushing/packing ensilage. It would probably work for pushing some dirt, but would not be ideal.

Anyone needing a 3 point trailer hitch, this is about the cheapest you'll see them for a light duty import version. I was price checking because I watched several go for $100-125 at an auction today

Note that that one says 21” width on the lower pins- I needed 24” to fit my quick change hitch.

Looks like They’re $45 from multiple sellers on eBay;

Picked this little kubota up a couple years ago for $600. If any of you have messed with one of these you know they are awesome. 600cc 3 cylinder diesel, something like 16hp, water cooled with a front pto. Wish it had a rear pto as well but it doesn’t. Hydrostatic trans with spin on filter. It had a haggard back blade when I got it so I converted it to a little hitch deal powered by a winch. My current plan is to find a front mount pto snow blower, load the tires and chain them. Then maybe a little cab enclosure deal with a better seat. It’s fun to drive through the woods with too.

everyone on here seems to get those for nothing, but they're $3k+ up here when I see them

ETA: maybe because we have a lot of hmong, and every one of those families seems to have a garden plot somewhere near the cities...

My little JD 300 got stolen last night. My cameras are crap and didn't catch much, but somebody managed to get it out through my back gate. I can't imagine they started it and drove out without me hearing, but it's heavy enough that I don't think 3-4 guys could lift it by hand. The ballast box had a couple hundred pounds in it alone. It barely qualifies as a tractor, but it was what I had and really handy to have around a 1/2 acre lot.

How the hell. Out of your back yard? Neighbors that knew that you have it? Teenage boys down the block?
Asking myself the same thing. I'm on a corner lot and the gate they went out faces to the road off the side. The gate has barrel latches on the inside, so they had to have gone around the side of my garage first to unlock it. Dunno... I'm pretty pissed. Lived here 19 years and hadn't lost anything until now. Probably not teenage boys here, but plenty of sketchy neighbors have moved in over the years. Time to step up security.

Any of your friends have a drone to fly over the neighborhood? Your tractor would stand out

I am shocked. Shocked. :flipoff2:

Data is from 2021 but we all know it hasn't gotten better since then.

Yeah yeah... I know. I'm even on the wrong (West) side of the state. Certainly hasn't gotten any better. I'm sure my tractor is already grading the next homeless camp or dragging an ATM down the street.

Idaho looks pretty good on that map. Maybe I should consider moving there. Can't imagine anyone else has had the same idea in the past several years.

It would make it better if they were using it like that.

They probably sold it to some flipper type for under market value and have already smoked or shot up whatever they bought with the money.
