What's new

The run on toilet paper is here again.

When theft of the goods was brought up in another thread, some people cried about it and that stealing was wrong. Well, if you're poor and have literally no other means, rising up and just taking it is exactly what will happen.
And many people will die during that. If that's how it goes, that's how it goes.

Suffering is unavoidable

You certainly can and most people will, which is why it's not worth caring at all about "gouging" . Gouging is caused by panic. People that panic in normal or extreme times are retarded :flipoff2:

I just don't change my standards based on the weather is all :flipoff2:
I try to keep myself as prepared as possible so that I don't have to worry about it either. I'm also not going out and buying up all the things with the intention of selling it for a profit to people who legitimately have no other option due to circumstances beyond their control.

And if I were in a situation like some of those folks are facing, and had the means to provide help, I'd give my shit away long before thinking about selling it for a profit. But I guess I better watch out saying that, I'll get labeled a communist around here.

Some people here seem to be ok with people getting fucked by others gouging the things because muh profitses.
no
I'm okay with people getting fucked by demand spikes making the market price for goods spike until supply can catch up with demand
seriously, stop with the woman-"logic"
there is no malice in anything at such scale, only indifference; nobody gives a single fuck, not even a fuck's worth of negativity

You’re right. Helping people in a time of extreme need is fucking stupid when there’s money to be made.

Wow you're both omniscient and altruistic?
Sweet, you're the one person that can manage an economy.
Too bad humans don't actually exist in either category much less both.

Right, because a little charity during a shit situation will destroy all the economies.

I'm just glad that you can know exactly where your aid is most needed and distribute it directly to those most in need while avoiding those who would dare to resell any of it (or resell other things once their structure of needs is shifted by your donations)

Again you’re right. We shouldn’t even bother.

The GF came home today with 2 large packages. We should be good for another year.

Smartest thing you have said. That said i wish humans were altruistic. But we aren't. And yes it sucks that some take advantage. But if that asshole didn't buy a truck load, of whatever, and sell it at inflated price it may not have gotten there.

"Emergency price gouging" isn't a different thing than pricing based on market forces. It's further out the spectrum of supply/demand.

But I guess I better watch out saying that, I'll get labeled a communist around here.

Too late. Commie! :flipoff2:

There's a difference between charity and helping people out and demand pricing due to a run on goods. A media manufactured toilet paper crises, is not an emergency.

Plenty of stuff is being given away for free right now here in WNC during a legit disaster, not dipshits reading Facebook and running out and stocking up on TP, prices should be inflated to stop that IMO.
