What's new

The run on toilet paper is here again.

What kind of simpletons are we that we make runs on ass paper? What is our problem?

Isn’t that even largely domestically produced?

We are going to be like the generation that lived through the depression. The people who never threw anything away and washed out ziplock bags to reuse them, but instead it will be the second there is any sort of instability, real or otherwise, go stock up on TP:laughing:. Future generations will be like "wtf", but they will just get a "you had to live it to understand".

Irish Spring body wash makes me all the delicious that I need to be. $4 at Wally World I think.
I still use IS bar soap. But, that tea tree stuff is something else though. I’m out and I’m planning to drive an hour just to go stock up. :homer:

Shitty part is that it was time for my annual tp purchase at Costco on Monday, so I looked like one of the hoarder dorks. :homer:
I’m moving at the end of the month and can’t wait to look like a hoarder since I hate moving stuff twice :lmao:

Bruh, we already in the 2 Great 2 Depression. I'm wondering when WW3 Tokyo Drift is gonna kick off.

Expert: No Need to Panic Buy TP Due to Strike

By Nick Koutsobinas | Wednesday, 02 October 2024 08:32 PM EDT

In light of the International Longshoremen's Association strike, which began Tuesday, according to one expert, there's no need to panic buy toilet paper.
"I think the problem that we're going to have mainly will be because of people's hoarding behavior … panic buying," Arzum Akkas, an associate professor in the operations and information management department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, said, according to The Hill.
I'm "not worried" about the longshoreman strike affecting the supply of toilet paper, she added, because most toilet paper is made locally and manufacturers have a "buffer inventory" or surplus of the stuff on hand.
According to CNN, 90% of toilet paper is made in the U.S. The rest typically comes from Mexico and Canada by way of truck. American Forest and Paper Association, a trade group representing paper manufacturers, said it was concerned however that the strike may impact exports, not imports

We usually have a good amount of shelf stable and frozen goods on hand. I upped my inventory of rice, beans, and canned goods. Going to pressure can all kinds of stuff this weekend. My local packing shed/cooler/wholesale connection is pushing aging inventory out. Stone fruit and such that is pretty much juice grade at this point. Agreed to buy another lamb at the fair this year. Got a pig and lamb last year, almost all the way through them. Took inventory of the deep freezer last night. Picked up 62 lbs of tri tip in a bulk buy deal for $4/lb and split it with some friends.

We had three freezers full of meat and frozen foods, 2 three foot x 6 foot tall shelves daily use canned and dry goods in the kitchen, we had three unused bedroom with more shelves

Did the same thing with Walmart, got the app to do curbside pickup. They will only allow you buy 4 cases of beer at the same time, figured that one out quick, buy 4 cases of 36 and 4 of 30. Did a surprise birthday shindig at the house a few weeks back, the dude at the pickup area asked me why I just picked up 8 cases yesterday and back for more today. Told him we finished all those last night. It was a week night. The look on that kids face was priceless. :homer:

Interesting local Walmart won't sell beer curb side probably has to do with the state closing drive through sales

Just got word from the wife that Amazon teamsters went on strike today.
:shaking:

So who's the idiot: You or your wife? Since we aren't supposed to pick on family, I guess you are. :flipoff2:

So? Still doesn't ride on a boat.
Not sure if it does or doesn't.

But if I am in Texas buying a bottle water that comes from California water source I would not say the most logical method is not happens.

I need to get an inverter, it's pretty much all I'm missing to be ready when shtf.
My employer has a program where you can sell back vacation time for cash. I accumulate a lot of vacation time. Every year I use some of it to buy high dollar items. This year I bought a Champion 3650 watt dual fuel inverter. It’s crazy quiet compared to my other generator (also a Champion dual fuel). I have several #20lb propane tanks that I make sure are always full. We need to set up an easy way to hook up one of the generators to the well if needed, probably some kind of plug. Outside of a large natural disaster throwing our supplies everywhere, I think we’d do pretty well in a grid hack/fail event.

Every year I buy the beer for our 10 day KOH trip. I usually get 14 to 20 30 packs at the base exchange because it's way cheaper than out in town (no tax).

Anywho, one of the young sailors asked if I needed help to get it out to my truck and he asked me what I was doing with all this beer. I told him this is for me and my friends this weekend, it's just how the old salts drink. I saw him leaving the NEX a couple days later carrying 4 cases, 2 in each hand back to his barracks and just laughed.

Seems like just yesterday you were that young sailor looking up in awe at those old salty chiefs. Where did the time go?
