I use it as my "snake gun". It's loaded with 22LR shot shells. I've shot it a bit with regular 22LR and it's a fine shooter for what it is. I've only used it for one rattler so far.
Just FYI, my cost was the same for the RR and the Wrangler revolvers and I think the Wrangler is a better pistol.
I purchased the 686 NIB in '81 for $259. The H&R was left to me from my Grandmother.

I had a Smith Model close to that one but I cannot remember the model number. It was a nickel 357 with a half shroud and a medium grip on a full size frame. I wish I could find another.
My ex’s dad had one of those, just a beautiful plinkerPhoto of what I consider to be my classic revolvers.
Top is model 17-3 .22lr
gorgeous gun, and the trigger is amazingMy ex’s dad had one of those, just a beautiful plinker
I think I need to add one of those to the collection before the .38 snubby
I have the same gun in a 4.2" bbl. sweet shooter for sure.Ruger GP100 .357magnum 5in barrel.

I inherited a top break H&R 22lr 9 shot (999 model?) from the 30s, per the serial. I pretty much had to beat it apart because of how rusted and disgusting it was. I used CLR to strip everything down to the white and browned it. It had been sitting in a not so dry place for the past, like, 20+ years or more and it had nasty pitting on the outside but the bore looked nice.I purchased the 686 NIB in '81 for $259. Yeah, the 999. I think mine is from the '70's, nothing vintage to be sure. Did the triggers just get worse later on or were they ALWAYS crap... :))I inherited a top break H&R 22lr 9 shot (999 model?) from the 30s, per the serial. I ended up putting it back together and it works really well for being old clunky H&R iron haha. Not a show piece by any means, but it is a fun plinker to take out and not care too much about.
It is hefty for sure haha. It was a major PITA to get the hammer spring in place on reassembly.Yeah, the 999. I think mine is from the '70's, nothing vintage to be sure. Did the triggers just get worse later on or were they ALWAYS crap... :))
I swear mine has a 50 lb pull in SINGLE action.
