What's new

The other heavy metal music.

I listen to metal like this in waves. A lot for a few months then back to anything but country for a while. I will say a lot of metal vocals are annoying, mostly listen for the music itself these days, live a good drum or guitar solo. Who gives a shit what people think of the music you like, what are we 16? I want to go to a metal show BAD I haven't been in forever. I have been getting into thrash a lot lately, I can't believe I discovered death angel at 36 LOL!!

If you're into EDM as well as metal The Browning has some solid songs and Phase One did collabs with Periphery, Northlane, and Thy Art Is Murder, good stuff. Good mix of both genres.

Speaking of the vocals:

Funny thing is I recall explaining this to my dad years ago. The screaming and growling never really attracted me to the metal genre. It was all about the emphasis of the overdriven musical notes, hard strikes on the percussion, and furthering of the technical synthesis of physically utilizing great instruments. Metal and its ever-growing sub genres hit that for me.

Bands such as Periphery and Tesseract did all of this so well. I still think Ashe was the best vocalist for Tesseract and I was ecstatic to hear bands put together some tight and heavy stuff while using clean vocals throughout. Metal often earned a bad reputation merely for the vocals, yet somehow, nearly or successfully tearing your vocal cord to let it all out next to some of the meanest sounding riffs is so fitting.

And some of the more obscure findings from the teenage years have been coming to mind.

Wow. Thats just garbage. Do you have fond memories of grown men screaming at you or something?

I'm with you, I usually like the instrumental part of metal and then some idiot with some serious insecurity issues starts yelling like a demon and I can't handle it :flipoff2:
